A Mystery is a type of fiction in which a detective, or other professional, solves a crime or series of crimes. It can take the form of a novel or short story.

Mysteries many times start with an inciting action (like a crime) and use suspense to bring the reader into the story. There is usually a protagonist, many times a detective, trying to solve the crime. She/he looks at the motives and alibis and many times are in danger themselves.
