Mesquite PawPrint
Vol#8 Let's Get Ready for the 21-22 School Year!
At Mesquite, we develop & celebrate the WHOLE child while recognizing their unique qualities!
From the desk of Mrs. Koberstein, Proud Principal
Greetings Mesquite families! As we wind down from the summer break and gear-up for a new school year, we hope this summer edition of the Mesquite PawPrint finds you staying cool! It has been a very busy summer at Mesquite as we have had some major renovations going on between our MPR floor, all of the bathrooms, the PS/K/1 field was sodded and much more. Our Mesquite PTSO, Dads Group, Student Council, Site Council, Leadership Teams, staff and I have been gearing up for a PawRRRific School Year! We look forward to you joining us!
The 2021 Kindergarten Round-Up is set for Monday, July 26th in the Mesquite Library and is focused on Kinder students and their families. This opportunity will allow for your kinder child to get familiar with the kinder classrooms (and staff). You, as the supportive parent, will have a chance to briefly hear about the kinder year, tour the school and meet with principal Koberstein. The kinder teachers are especially excited for this chance in small groups to meet your child and begin developing that relationship with them.
The groups are scheduled throughout the day according to your last name:
A-F is from 8am-9am
G-L is from 9:30am-10:30am
M-R is from 11:00am-noon
S-Z is from 1:30pm-2:30pm
For our NEW to Mesquite families in grades 1st-6th, we invite you to attend the "Welcome Tour" on Tuesday, July 27th which begins in the front office @ 10am, where principal Koberstein will take you and your child on a tour of the campus, answer your questions, share secrets for an easy transition to a new school, introduce you to members of the MES PTSO/Dads Group so you can get involved as well as provide an opportunity for you to purchase MES spirit wear.
For all of our Mesquite families, class lists will be posted and available beginning on Friday, July 30th at 4pm through the Infinite Campus portal. Also, be sure to mark your calendar for Monday, August 2nd for Meet the Teacher from 4:30-6:30pm. There will be Food Trucks to make dinner an easy one. The First Day of School will be on Wednesday, August 4th. Further down in the newsletter are the Supply/Wish Lists for each grade level.
Hopefully this summer you have encouraged your child to keep up on their reading using myOn. Your child has access to hundreds of books with just an internet connection and its not too late to get them started. Another great opportunity was the Summer Math Challenge 2021! The Quantile® Summer Math Challenge was a six-week program full of daily activities that were designed to help prevent summer learning loss. Students who complete the Summer Math Challenge and turn their certificate in to Mrs. Koberstein at the start of the next school year at "Meet the Teacher" on Monday, August 2nd OR the first day of school on Wednesday, August 4th will be invited to participate in a celebratory lunch with principal Koberstein. Don't let your child miss out!
Parents, you make a difference in our Mesquite Community! Your involvement in our school not only leaves a tremendous impact on your child, but also contributes greatly to the positive climate we are especially proud of at Mesquite. We have missed you and want you back/involved in whatever capacity you can be this year! Together, let's be ready for a PawRRRific new school year! I look forward to building more lasting memories with you and building new memories with our new families! We appreciate your being a valued partner! #mountainlionpride
