"The nation doesn’t simply need what we have. It needs what we are."
St. Teresia Benedicta
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
Thanks to your generosity, we raised $340.00 for the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) through our November spirit day. On Friday, Ali Holden from MCA will give a presentation to our 4th-8th grade students and show them how to make Rosaries. The students will then have the opportunity to make Rosaries that they may either keep or donate to the missions. We will also present her with the donations from our November spirit day. Our 8th graders assisted with assembling the kits this morning in religion class, and Miss Holden was very complimentary of how well they worked today.
Last Friday, we welcomed Sister Margaret Rose Adams, IHM, our assistant superintendent. Sister Margaret Rose visited St. Jerome for our annual school visit from the Office of Catholic Education. She visited classrooms, met with Fr. Reilly and me, attended Holy Hour, and toured the school facilities. Sister Margaret Rose commended our students, teachers, and staff for making St. Jerome School a welcoming community committed to faith and academic excellence. She was also very impressed with how reverent our students were during the Holy Hour and their enthusiasm during her classroom visits.
Looking ahead, next Wednesday is an early dismissal at 12:00 PM. There is no school next Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving Break. Classes will resume on Monday, November 29th.
Finally, under the direction of Bishop Fitzgerald, a Strategic Planning Task Force for the Executive Board of Elementary Education (EBEE) has been established with co-chairs Sr. Carroll Isselmann and Chris Dezzi for Catholic elementary education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
In an effort to gain a broad perspective on how the EBEE can best support Catholic elementary education, the attached survey seeks your input. If you fill multiple roles within the school system, you may be receiving multiple surveys; it would be most helpful if you would respond from the perspective indicated in the survey. It should take about 15 minutes to complete the survey. The survey link to the survey is pasted here: https://forms.gle/4dyeozUYpHpweKXf8
Thank you for your support of this important endeavor which will assist in planning for the future of Catholic elementary education. The survey will remain open until December 3, 2021.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
