PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Ka tangi te Titi, Ka tangi te Kaka, Ka tangi hoki ahau. Tihei Mauri Ora
The Titi is calling, The Kaka is calling, And I wish to call. Behold there is life!
What Jesus says about life:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jesus said: “I am the bread of life, I have the words of eternal life, whoever finds me finds life, whoever believes in me has eternal life, and whoever believes in me his name will be written down in the lamb's Book of Life.”
Kia Ora i te whānau kātoa,
The blessed gift of life, and how blessed we have been to be able to get out into the sunshine and enjoy a good play and run around. It is definitely good for everyone’s wellbeing and we are hoping for the weather to start warming up.
Congratulations to all our sporting teams who have come to the end of the winter sporting season. Thank you to our coaches, managers and supporters who have committed to trainings, braved the chilly mornings and enabled our students to shine. We would like to extend a warm welcome to ALL our winter sport coaches and managers to a special morning tea at school next Thursday 1st September at 11:00.If you are an Onga 7’s or Rippa Rugby coach or a supporter and are free, you are also more than welcome to join.
Beginning Friday 9th September our assembly’s will be open to all families who are able to make it to share in celebrating the end of yet another industrious week of learning. Led by our very competent School Leaders you will hear your children singing, witness members of our community be acknowledged for their achievements and feel the warmth of our school values in action as we pray for ourselves and each other.
School Cross Country
Students are practicing, portaloo and buses are booked, tracks are being finalised and excitement is high!
This will be my first St Joseph’s Cross Country event and I am looking forward to celebrating ‘real’ active living as our athletes run through paddocks, up and over hills, around fenced livestock and HIGHLY LIKELY getting a little wet and muddy!.
All parking will be on our limestone arena (buses, parents, spectators). There will be some balloons/signage on our gateway and parking sign by the arena so we all know where to come/park
Once through our gateway drive past the stables and the arena is in front of you lots of space to turn around.
BRING GUMBOOTS! IT IS, AND WILL BE, MUDDY!
Postponement date will be: Friday 9th September
Teacher Only Day
A reminder that next week (Friday 2nd September) we have a staff only day so that more work can be done on deepening our Structured Literacy practices. Staff will travel to Dannevirke and work alongside our our St Joseph’s counterparts. Therefore, there will be no school for students.

MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS
Tena koutou katoa
This Friday we have school cross country. We wish everyone good luck and the only thing that matters is that everyone tries their best, don't give up and have fun.
For the past couple of weeks the school has been practicing Ngati whai. It is looking really good.
Last weekend was the end of winter sports for most of us. The senior prems netball team came third overall for their grade and the grade A senior team game second overall for their grade. We thank all of our coaches for the time and effort they have put into our training and games. Also a big thanks to all of you who have supported us from the side lines.
Reminders:
- Bring a smile to school
-Stay positive
-Wear the correct winter uniform

ACHIEVEMENT
Congratulations to Maisie and Nick who were chosen for the Central Hawkes Bay Rugby Representative Under 11’s Team who played in the Trevor White Cup game last weekend. The team ran in over 50 points.
Maisie (hooker) and Nick (blind side flanker) played in the forwards, they had this to say about the game “The game was tactical because the other team kept pushing us down because they were bigger than us, our favourite part of the game was when our team kicked off and we had to run after it and it resulted in an intercept try for our team. We would like to thank our coaches for taking their time to train us and make us better at passing and tackling”.
