- The Friedell office is open daily from 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call if you have questions or need support!
- As we prepare to have more students in the building, please remember it is imperative that all students complete the daily health screener before coming to school.
- Many of the pictures below contain links to websites and additional information. Please feel free to click on them to access the additional information. One example would be the February Calendar, that link takes you to our district calendars page, specifically the Middle School Calendar.
- Stay up to date with all of Rochester Public Schools! This is a new set of important information to know for RPS. Check out our Top 5 things to know here! These videos are available in multiple languages!
- Please work with your students to make certain they have a fully charged iPad each day. This is important as iPads are used for multiple classes.
- Families - we have many items being dropped off for students during the school day. Please remind your student to stop in the office during passing time to see if the items have been dropped off. We will not be able to deliver directly to the classrooms.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION (AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES) INFORMATION
REGISTRATION-
- All students MUST be pre-registered for in-person after school activities prior to attending a club or activity. No exceptions.
- There will be NO paper registration forms accepted. All registration must be done online or via phone. This is explained and outlined on the flyer.
- Students not registered for an after school activity should NOT stay after school. (Of course, if a student has a meeting or other reason to stay that is approved by the school that wouldn’t apply) What we don’t want are kids staying after school just for the heck of it and then trying to attend a club or activity.
- There are fee based activities. Scholarships are available for all fee based activities for students on free or reduced lunch. To obtain a scholarship they must call the CE Office at Northrop. Again, outlined on the flyer.
LATE BUS REQUIREMENTS-
- All students must indicate during registration if they will need/use the late bus service.
- All Late busses will have a Para working on them.
- Students will be assigned a seat upon boarding and are to remain in that seat until departure.
COVID MITIGATION-
- We will be following all MDH, MDE, RPS, and Friedell COVID related procedures, policies, and mitigation efforts after school.
- We do have some different “rules” in regards to pod size that we need to follow that are actually more strict than the school day. We are only allowed pods of 15 students or less (25 for sports/50 outdoor). So space is extremely limited in the in-person clubs. Don’t ask my how this makes sense after they’ve been in school all day but those are the current guideline for extracurricular activities after school.
REMINDERS FOR STUDENT HEALTH AND SAFETY
When I have a sick child:
- If your child has any of the symptoms listed on the COVID screening tool, s/he should be staying home from school.
- If you have multiple children, and one is staying home because they are ill, all children in your family are to be kept home.
- Please inform the school of any symptoms your child is experiencing.
- If you have questions about what to do or next steps, just give us a call. We are happy to guide you.
Bell Times
We know that it is an adjustment to have school start so early! We are doing our best to communicate times with families, and here are some key times!
Important Times:
- Daily Bell Schedules
- 7:20 a.m. is when we have supervision. Please wait until 7:20 to drop off students by Door 1 (Gym Door!)
- Buses need plenty of space. Please wait until 2:05 p.m. to line up for afternoon pick-up
*** Families that requested transporation shoudl have received your students bus routing in the mail. If you have not received that information, please contact the Friedell Office.
PTSA MEETING
If you would like to see our agenda, that is linked to our PTSA page on the Parent Portal! We have also included a direct link here.
Please remember we have The Remote Distance Learning Technical Support Team!
The Remote Distance Learning Technical Support Team for families and students will solve for issues like:
