Housekeeping Reminders
- Please send in a family photo if you have not done that yet.
- Please make sure your child is coming with a snack, or purchases it from the cafeteria in the morning. They will not be allowed to go down during the day to go get snack.

Math
What's Happening This Week?
- Factors, Products, and Multiples
- Expressions and Equations
- Volume
- Connections between Fractions and Decimals
Check your student's planners for homework assignments this week. Math homework is assigned Monday through Thursday every week. Binders and planners should come home nightly. I will also be using the planner to communicate behavioral concerns during Math workshop. You may see tally marks if a certain off task behavior is address during independent or whole group learning time.
On Monday and Tuesday, students will be participating in the district Math baseline assessment. It will used to identify which 4th grade skills will require review in the upcoming units of study.
Science
Earth Systems Unit
- Students will identify the parts of the water cycle and discuss their impact on Earth's surface.
- Students will demonstrate how to separate the solution of salt water to create fresh water.
- Students will discuss the difference between weather and climate.
Language Arts
- Reading Responses, we will be working on using complete thoughts and support from our test to write reading responses.
- We will be using Realistic Fiction to go over characterization, expostions, conflict, plot, resolutions.
- Understanding the Writing Process- We will begin brainstorming topics for our personal narratives.
- We will be picking novels for Literature Circles this week.
- Reading Homework is 120 minutes this week.
Social Studies
- 7 Continents & 5 Oceans: TEST next Tuesday, Aug. 28th
- This week we will wrap up map skills and we will begin our first paper from Social Studies Weekly. This will be the paper we use each week. Our topic this week is early explorers.
Word Work
Students will need to know how to spell the spelling words only. They will need to know the meaning and how to use the Flocabulary words.
