A message from PTO:
We are having elections in January. During this election, we will elect a board to complete the 2020-2021 school year. What does a board do? We work hand in hand with the teachers and staff to support and show appreciation to our school. If this is something you are interested in, please consider joining PTO in order to be eligible to serve on the board. All are WELCOME! PTO membership is FREE this year. This week we will be reading some traditional tales such as "The Three Little Pigs" and "Little Red Riding Hood." We will review letters Aa-Oo and numbers 1-14. Please continue to practice letter names and sounds with your child at home also. -Mrs. Vasquez
This week in Pre-KB we will be reviewing letter A-O, numbers 0-14, all basic shapes, and the color orange. -Ms. Bateman
Kindergarten
1st Grade
Math - We will be starting a new unit this week! We will be working on writing a word problem, or a story, to match addition sentences.
Science - In science, we are identifying characteristics of the four different seasons and characteristics of day and night.
Social Studies - We will be learning about ways we are responsible at school and at home.
ELA - Our week's sight words are: carry, draw, eight, even, goes, may, seven, shows. Our spelling pattern this week is spelling words with the long i and long o with a silent e like bike and stove.-Kindergarten Team
2nd Grade
This week in ELA students will be taking their MAP test. Please remind students to do their very best on these tests to show growth! All students will still need to login to Schoology each day for each class to complete the assignments and Exit Tickets for attendance. Students will have self-paced reading assignments with a quiz. Please also remind students to read for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown
This week students will be continuing their unit covering Earth's systems. There will be NO LIVE classes this week due to MAP testing. Students will have an opportunity to make their own rain gauge using directions in the Nearpod lesson.-Mrs. A. Martinez

Please go into schoology and complete the assignment/Exit Ticket for each day! We are practicing how to type a past tense and social studies essay. For past tense, we are writing about our favorite summer and for social studies, we are writing about Martin Luther King Jr. Follow the directions on schoology on how to submit the essays. This week, we are MAP testing so due to this, your child will be needing to work through their assignments in Schoology on their own.

3rd Grade
This week we will be continuing our unit on weather. Students will study how to observe, measure, and record precipitation and study weather patterns in different locations! There will be NO LIVE classes this week due to MAP testing. -Mrs. A. Martinez

In 3rd grade we will continue working on identifying and comparing fractions. Please make sure your student is completing their lesson along with their math exit tickets. Reach out to Ms. Curtis if you have any questions. -Ms. Curtis
4th Grade
We will be doing MAP testing this week. Students will complete math assignments and Exit Tickets asynchronously as there will be no live zoom meetings.-Ms. McCaig
This week students will continue studying patterns on Earth - such as shadows, daylight, and seasons. There will be NO LIVE classes this week due to MAP testing. -Mrs. A. Martinez
In Mrs. Driver's Language Arts class, we will describe how an author uses idioms and adages in a folktale. There will be a quiz on Tuesday/Wednesday that will count as the fourth grade of the quarter.-Mrs. Driver
5th Grade
We are MAP testing this week. Please have your students sign on to zoom on time and keep their cameras on during class time. Students will be focusing on writing and practicing answering a writing prompt staying on topic, using correct grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. Please make sure your student is completing all daily work for their online assignments. Also, be sure to check your dojo for all the important class reminders.

In science we are moving into [5.9D] identifying fossils as evidence of past living organisms and the nature of the environments at the time using models. In social studies we will expound upon the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and 5.14(B)explain the purposes of the U.S. Constitution as identified in the Preamble.-Mr. Walton
