Celebrating National School Counseling Week!

This week is National School Counseling Week and Argyle ISD is recognizing its outstanding counselors on our campuses serving students. National School Counseling Week highlights the essential contribution our school counselors make in Argyle ISD and the tremendous impact they have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

Our counselors are "All in for All Eagles" and help our students in so many ways every day with the support and guidance to make them successful!

Campuses Celebrating Black History Month

During the month of February, Argyle ISD campuses are celebrating Black History Month and learning more about the history and achievements of black leaders in U.S. history.

The campuses across the district are providing daily announcements, implementing videos, activities and lessons focusing on Black History Month and famous individuals and events. The libraries are providing books, read-alouds and virtual storytime on famous African Americans and their significant contributions to our world.

Students across the campuses are also doing a variety of activities including artwork and researching and writing biographies on famous figures.

AHS Student Artwork Receives Recognition

The artwork of Argyle High School senior Adriana Saenz has received state recognition. It was chosen to be featured at the Texas State Capitol during the month of March as part of the Capitol Exhibit celebration Youth Art Month!

Congratulations to Adriana on this outstanding achievement! Her artwork was done with oil on a canvas board.

Eagles Soaring High! Two AHS Band Members Named All-State

In addition to winning the Class 4A state marching band championship, the Eagle band has two musicians who have earned state recognition!

Amanda Mason and Tyler Lansberry have both been named Association of Texas Small School Band All-State! Amanda plays the contrabass clarinet and Tyler plays the trombone. Congratulations to these talented Eagles!

Football, Band, Cheer Honored at State Celebration

It was an exciting night of celebration of the Argyle High School football team, marching band and spirit cheerleader squad. Argyle ISD honored their successes at the UIL state competitions, which included Class 4A state championships for football and band and a state runner-up finish for cheer.

The night included a special message from Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright, School Board Vice President Dr. John Bitter and AHS Principal John King. Each member of these teams and groups was honored individually and the cheer and band also performed. Eagle football also honored its special individual award winners along with academic all-state.

Capture The Moment: Talon Photogs Win Awards!

The Talon News photographers do a tremendous job capturing amazing shots. Two photographers recently were awarded for their outstanding photography skills.

Katie Ray earned second place in News Photos for "The Fight for Justice Continues" photo that was honored by the Texas Photographic Society and the National Scholastic Press. Nicholas West's photo "Through The Lens" took fifth place in the "Feature Photo" category.

Guess Who? UIL Lone Star Cup Rankings Released

The latest UIL Lone Star Cup rankings have been released and Argyle holds first place in Class 4A with 46 points! The Lone Star Cup is awarded to the most successful schools in each classification based on district and state competitions in academics, fine arts and sports.

The point standings include: team tennis, cross country, marching band, volleyball, robotics BEST, football and spirit. This is the first points update of the year by the UIL.

The Eagles have won a state championship in football and band and earned a runner-up finish in spirit. Canyon is in second place with 42 points and Melissa is third with 36 points.

Argyle is a previous 10-time winner of the UIL Lone Star Cup.

Argyle ISD Goes RED!

Join us this month as Argyle Goes RED! This month we will focus on heart health while also celebrating our Argyle Eagle Spirit! We will be posting information on heart health and non-profits that support heart screenings and heart health-related events.

Our official GO RED day in the district is February 11- everyone wear RED to school that day! On February 12 it will be RED OUT in the stands at the home basketball games. Together we can make a difference!

School Board Filing Application Deadline Feb. 12

Filing for a place on the School Board Election is currently open until Friday, Feb. 12. Places 4 & 5 are up for election on May 1, 2021.

Ritchie Deffenbaugh has filed for Place 4, which he currently holds. Dr. Leona McDade has also filed in her current Place 5 position.

Trustee applications are available at the Argyle ISD administration building, located at 800 Eagle Drive. To find out more information about the election, visit Argyleisd.com.

What You Need to Know When Bad Winter Weather Arrives?

In the event inclement winter weather enters the area, Argyle ISD will keep its families notified of any school closures or delays. The district follows specific procedures in determining if school will be held when inclement weather has impacted the campuses and roads.

Argyle ISD uses multiple ways to notify parents of potential school closures or delays. These notifications are sent through parent email, text, social media and website postings.

Senior Night Friday! Argyle Teams Host Springtown

The Argyle Eagles and Lady Eagles both face Springtown on Friday night on Senior Night.

This marks the Lady Eagles' final game of the regular season before the playoffs begin next week. The Eagles conclude their regular season on Friday, Feb. 12. Both teams are coming off a bye on Tuesday.

Lady Eagles play at 6:15 p.m. and the Eagles play at 7:45 p.m.
