School Board Highlights

Pubic Hearing of Budget
The Board held a public hearing for the 2022-2023 budget. There were no public comments. The Board approved the budget later in the meeting. There is $39,817,902 in revenue and $38,157,286 in expenses. Property taxes make up 84 percent of the revenue. Salaries and benefits make up 78 percent of the expenses.
Daniel Wright Athletic Fields
The Board received an overview of the Daniel Wright athletic fields and its uses by Mr. Scott Gaunky, Director of Facilities. The athletic fields are primarily used during physical education classes, soccer games, and track and field practice. Over time, additional drainage has been installed to keep the western portion of the school grounds dry. The Board will continue to discuss the athletic fields as part of the facility plan.
Strategic Plan Goals
The Administration updated the Board with the Strategic Goals for the 2022-2023 school year. These goals include the expansion of critical thinking and problem solving learning in the classroom, enhancing individualized learning for students, and further implementation of social emotional learning in an effort to create safe, healthy and just communities. The administration will bring the goals back to the Board with expanded action plans.
Assessment Report
An assessment report of students’ Measures of Academic Progress to the Board showed that students are growing academically at pre-pandemic levels in math and reading. In all subject areas, students in grades 3-8 showed overall expected growth and higher than expected growth.
Updated Facility Plan Matrix
The Board was presented with an updated five-year facility plan. Improvements include infrastructure projects like boiler pump replacements, playground surface replacement, and ceiling tile replacement. The Board will continue to review the matrix at upcoming meetings.
Aide Compensation Approval
The Board approved the aide compensation for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. The package includes a $1.50 per hour increase for all general education aides after a 3.5 percent raise is applied. Under the new guidelines, the base rate for general education aides will be $16.50 per hour and $17.26 per hour for special education aides. Additional compensation will be given for experience and credit toward higher education.
Approval of Student Activity Fees
The Board approved student activity fees and stipends for the 2022-2023 school year. The fee structure was adjusted to better align with the length of time a club, activity, or sport meets.
Board of Education Meeting
The next Board of Education meeting will occur at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16. The notice and agenda can be found on the District 103 Board meeting website page. D103 board meetings will be held in-person and live-streamed each month on our YouTube Channel. Members of the community should attend the meeting at 111 Barclay Boulevard, Lincolnshire if they would like to make a public comment. The public can also contact the Board at board@d103.org.
