School Safety Update
Drop Off and Pick Up Kudos!
A huge, "Thank You!," is extended to those of you that are following Shull's drop off and pick up guidelines. This helps keep you and your kiddos safe!Remember that children may NEVER be dropped off for school at the front doors unless they are tardy and you are walking them into the building after 8:45 a.m.
If you drop your child off out front and leave, he or she may very well be stuck unsupervised and unable to get into the building because of our secured vestibule.
Evacuation Drill
We have a scheduled, school-wide evacuation drill on Thursday, September 1, at 9:00 a.m. During this drill, teachers will give students assertive directions to safely exit the building. To alert students and staff the drill is starting, Dr. Mattingly will make an announcement. An alarm does not actually sound during this drill.
You can help with this process by talking with your child about the evacuation drill and why it is so important to stay calm, quiet and to follow the teacher's directions.
Violent Intruder Training
Employees of the entire school district recently completed the annual Strategos Violent Intruder Training. Strategos consultants worked with employees to teach applicable and reality based security, safety and tactical skills that will help staff members save lives and prevail in stressful, crises oriented situations. Students are not present during these training sessions but regularly practice evacuation and shelter in place procedures during the school year.
