SV Week 31 Update

A Great Start to 4th Quarter

We were all refreshed and ready for another week of learning & Innovation at SV, our last quarter is off to a great start and our Vipers are loving the beautiful Spring temperatures this week. We have a lot going on in 4th quarter including tonight's PTSO Papa John's Restaurant night. Be sure to order a pizza and a portion of all sales come back to our amazing PTSO.


As we head into April, our Spring Testing window opens Tuesday April 2 for our 3-8th graders. We have a new test this year named the AASA which will be administered to all 3rd-8th graders in the state and it will include writing, reading, and math for all students. Additionally, our 5th and 8th graders will take an additional science test (AZ Sci) as part of the AASA testing that all students must take in Arizona.


Our kids will continue to shine, and there is nothing for them to "study", we just ask for your help in ensuring that they arrive with their having eaten breakfast, with chromebooks fully charged, on time, and stay for the duration of the school day during our testing window. Please do not schedule any appointments during this window so that our students get every opportunity to take their time and do their best on these assessments. As a reminder, we also have breakfast available for all students at no charge this year for all our students starting at 8:10 am.

Spirit Week Starts Monday!

Student Council is sponsoring spirit week next week on campus.


March 28th -April 1st

Monday: Opposite/backwards Day

Tuesday: Crazy hair Day

Wednesday: Crazy sock/shoe day

Thursday: Tie-dye day

Friday: Extreme purple and Green day


We hope to see everyone dressed for each day!

James and the Giant Peach Student Drama Production

The student performance of James and the Giant Peach Jr. is coming! The students have been working hard to make their performance fabulous! The shows will be April 8th and 9th in the MPR. Tickets are on sale now!! Come and see things happening "RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES".

PBIS Rewards Donations

Do you have any gently used stuffed animals or plush you no longer need? We are currently in need of stuffed animals for our PBIS Rewards store. These items are a huge hit in our store, and kids are loving to spend their PBIS Reward money on these and many other items in our store. If you have any gently used toys or unused small denomination gift cards, we could put them to great use in our shop.


We are also currently in need of brown paper bags/lunch sacks to organized and deliver our PBIS prizes. If you would like to contribute, we would welcome any donations of these brown paper bags. You can drop off any prizes or rewards at our front office.

Middle School Sports

On Wednesday March 30, softball hosts Anthem, and baseball travels to Anthem. Both games are at 4:30 pm. Good luck Vipers!

National Reading Month Donation Drive

Donate your old books for national reading month! Bring a book and take a book to give old books new homes!

Student Environment Input Form

DVUSD guidelines do not allow a specific teacher to be requested, but may allow parents to provide input on their child’s needs and the type of teacher that may best serve their child’s needs. It is our belief at Sierra Verde that teachers and parents can provide the best education possible for our children by working together. The responsibility for assignment of students resides with the principal and teachers working together to place students in a learning environment that best meets the needs of the student. Also keep in mind that teachers may change grade levels and/or schools. Therefore, providing detailed information regarding the preferred learning environment and your child’s needs is critical.

Universal Gifted Identification Testing Grade 2 Students

In order to ensure we are identifying and providing services for all of our students, your child’s school has agreed to provide a universal gifted identification testing for all of this year’s 2nd grade students. This means we will not just be testing students whose teachers or parents request it, it is going to be open to all 2nd graders who are not currently identified, or who have not yet tested this school year.

Jumpstart your Summer

DVUSD has a full range of programs designed for our kids. Check out some of the programs and interventions we have in store this summer. More information will be forthcoming during the summer about students who may qualify for summer interventions at Sierra Verde.

Theater Rocks Summer Camp

Don't miss your chance to participate in the Theatre Rocks musical production of Disney's Moana JR. Specially adapted from the iconic Disney animated film, this summer camp brings the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage and features a host of colorful characters and beloved songs from the movie. This is a program offered through the Community Education Program and will take place May 31 - June 17, 2022 at Sandra Day O'Connor High School from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
