Thank you, Marie-France, Huda and Mariana, for helping cover learning while teachers were sitting in interviews! -Shelley
Thank you, Latoya, Shana, Kari, Leigh, Stephanie, Abbe, Camille and Heather for sending in your students' Acts of Kindness. I couldn't see past my nose -literally :D- to be able to see everyone who came to the Talent Show Thursday night. Our kids love their teachers being there almost as much as their own families <3 Thank you, thank you to everyone who came. You made a difference! - Shelley
Thank you, Camille, for offering to help a student who needed words of encouragement. Some of our kiddos need to be reminded that someone is rooting for them! -Gaby 5th
Shout out to Sloan for caring as much as you do about our kids and then some, especially those who need it most! You're making an impact! - Gaby T.
Thank you to everyone PreK through 5th for being so proactive Friday at dismissal. There was such a huge difference in how the kids left us. I appreciate the impact you have on student safety and I KNOW our families do. Thank you, thank you, thank you! - Shelley
Thank you Daniela, Elia, Patricia and LaToya for stepping in Friday when we didn't have subs in critical areas. You made our school safer and productive Friday! - Shelley
Jade and Nicole, thanks for being investigation ninjas with me last week. Team work makes the dream work! -Shelley
Marie-France, thank you and all the parents who gave 150% to get the signs ready for Kinder and PreK Round-up! You really got the word out which will help us have a smoother beginning of year next year! -Shelley
Ariel, thank you for jumping on a register with me at the book fair on Friday. You really saved me during the final rush. I appreciate you! ~ Audra
Nuts and Bolts is our "virtual faculty meeting". Please read all information carefully and reach out if you have any questions or need clarification.
If you have a student you have submitted for testing, touch base with Jade this week to ensure all required student work, etc. is correct and determine status.
Grade level teams to meet with Humanities' Jacqui Van Horn during planning on May 3rd in PLC room.
STAAR Individual Student Report Cards (formerly CSRs)
We will not be receiving paper copies of the STAAR Report Card for the first administration of STAAR. All results for parents will only be available online.
Continue sending me the names of students and the act of kindness they did. So far I've made over 20 "Kindness Kalls"! :) Keep them coming!!
Please talk within your teams about ways to continue a focus on transition times to/from recess, lunch, specials, dismissal and during recess are typically the least structured times of the day. At Principal PLC this past week, we were asked to communicate this with our staffs (we were ahead of the game thinking about this!) I appreciate the proactive plans that you're already putting in place!
PreK -2nd grade, if you aren't doing this, let's go back to the dismissal plan we were using at the beginning of the year and plan to get to dismissal areas by 2:50. This cuts down significantly on hallway traffic and keeps our kiddos safe. Remember that we can't actually dismiss students until 2:55!
The Curriculum and Instruction department is gearing up for the 2nd annual GCISD PK-12 Learning Institute which will be held on August 9th at Grapevine High School. Last year, this experience received rave reviews from staff and included over 400 sessions taught by teachers and leaders from across our district. Please consider a session proposal to share your unique perspective and great work with colleagues from across the district. Please read the proposal form carefully before completing it, and please be sure to submit it prior to May 1st.
After you've read Nuts and Bolts, be sure to sign here to indicate you've received and understand the information shared! Thank you!
