What's Happening this Week?
Polser Families,
Everyone has been working so hard remotely and virtually the last few weeks. We appreciate all of your support and know this has been a learning experience for all of us! Please know I appreciate your patience as we navigate this new way of school. We are so excited to see our in-person students back on Tuesday, September 8th! I wanted to provide you all with back to school updates for our return to campus next week. Please note in-person learning is only for those students coded remote/in-person. Virtual students who want to change their learning path must do so at the end of the nine weeks.
On Tuesday, September 8th ONLY, one parent will be allowed to walk their student into the building following a grade level staggered start, SEE BELOW, to limit the number of people inside the building. No siblings, additional parents, or extended family will be allowed. Siblings will be required to walk to their classroom and wait for their parent. All parents and students must wear masks and will have a temperature check at their designated grade level entry door-SEE BELOW. We will have duty teachers on hand to help you find the correct door. The parent attending will be allowed 10 minutes to drop off supplies and their student and exit the same grade level door to limit contact in our building.
For those of you dropping off students and unable to enter the building on the first day of school or any day following Tuesday, students are able to arrive between 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Students will enter the building wearing a mask and have temperature checks at their designated entry door, SEE BELOW. Students will go directly to their classroom. Breakfast will be grab and go and eaten in their grade level classroom. All teachers will be in their classrooms to greet students at 7:15 a.m.
Arrival and Dismissal will look a bit different this year as our one lane of traffic from Polser Road, will split into two lanes of traffic in front of the building. During arrival, students must exit cars on the passenger side ONLY and enter through their appropriate grade level door. Parents will follow around the outside front parking lot and exit either left or right at the stop signs. Cones will mark the lanes. PreK parents must park in the front parking lot, wear a mask, and walk their students to the Kinder doorway, Door 14, and drop off their students to the door monitor. Parents will not be allowed inside the building. Students will have a temperature check at the door before entering the building.
Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, 4th and 5th Grade, Daycare, and Yellow Bus will be allowed to drop off on the cafeteria side of the building ONLY. Monitors will ask you to drive around to the front if not in one of those groups due to specific door entry points during LEVEL ORANGE. If you have multiple grade level car rider students, siblings or carpool, please drop off in the front of the building. Students will enter the building using their designated doorway. Door Monitors will check temperatures before students enter the building.
PK students will dismiss at 3:10 p.m., Kinder students at 3:15 p.m., 1st Grade at 3:20 p.m., and 2nd - 5th Grade at 3:25 p.m. leaving from their designated doorways to the front drive if a car rider. All students will wear masks and spread out by grade level. Siblings will meet outside. All parents of car riders, grades PK-5th grade, must pick up in the front car lane from their vehicle during LEVEL ORANGE. Please do not walk up and collect students. Our one lane of traffic from Polser Road, will split into two lanes of traffic in front of the building. Students must enter cars on the passenger side ONLY. Parents will follow around the outside front parking lot and exit either left or right at the stop signs. Cones will mark the lanes and duty teachers will be on hand to cross students and keep the traffic moving.
Students are welcome to bring backpacks and lunch boxes to school each day. All student belongings will be kept separate. Lockers will not be used in grades Kinder-5th Grade. Students will be provided individual drawstring bags for their chairs to keep supplies and materials. Please make sure to bring in Wrap Pack supplies if picked up early. Supply lists can be found here https://www.lisd.net/Page/4963. Remember that students will not be able to use drinking fountains during LEVEL ORANGE. Disposable water bottles are recommended however refillable bottles are allowed but students will not be able to refill them at school.
Please remember that parents are not allowed in the building for lunch or to drop off outside food/lunch to their students. Birthday treats will not be allowed at this time. Parents picking up students for appointments will show their ID from the outside and students will be walked to the parent to limit outside visitors. Parents entering the building will be by appointment only.
Make sure your student is wearing a mask daily. We will have masks on hand in case a student forgets theirs at home. Sanitizer stations will be available in every classroom. Classrooms will travel in families. With our limited number of students returning in-person, students will eat in the cafeteria, socially distanced, and able to use the playground with their grade level groups. Scheduled restroom breaks will be provided throughout the day. We appreciate you encouraging your child to use the restroom during their scheduled breaks.

We are still in need of a PTA President. Please email me if you are interested or would like more information regarding this position.
We look forward to seeing many of you back on Tuesday, September 8th! We have some great things planned to connect our in-person and virtual learners! Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
