**NEW: Cell Phone Policy
Please discuss this change with your student prior to the start of the school year.
Cell Phone Policy Update:
Please note the change for student cell phone use this school year. Cell phones and earbuds will not be permitted for use between 7:30 am and 2:16 pm except for a student's lunch period. In the event that you need to reach your student, please contact the main office at 223-2790. Otherwise, students will only be able to respond during their assigned lunch period. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Parent/Student Handbook
The handbook is a good reference for code of conduct, attendance, dress code policies, etc. It also contains information such as, co-curricular activities/athletics eligibility, counseling information, graduation requirements & bell schedules. The handbook can also be found on the high school webpage under the 'Parents' drop down at the top of the page.
Attendance
Tardiness & Absences: If your child is going to be absent or late for any reason, please call our Attendance Office at 223-2769. The attendance policy can be found in the handbook & will also be discussed with students the first week of school.
Bell Schedule
All students must report to their Period 1 Class no later than 7:30 am.
Students who take the bus will have the option of reporting to the New Gym or Cafeterias prior to 7:20 am. All students being dropped off or driving themselves to school will only enter the building through the theater entrance prior to 7:20 am. Students may enter the building for extra help prior to 7:20 with a pass from their teacher. Students will need to present the pass to staff/administration to gain entrance prior to 7:20 am.
The school day will end at 2:16 pm. All students who take a First Run Bus will exit through Pioneer Hall and get on their bus, which will be lined up along the access road behind the high school and football stadium. Second Run bus students will report to the theater and wait for the bus.
Early Dismissals
If a student needs to be dismissed prior to the end of the school day, a note signed by the parent/guardian must be sent in with the student and given to the teacher at the requested time of dismissal in order to be released from class. This note serves as their pass to the main office. The student should then proceed to the main office and present the parent note to the attendance officer at the time of dismissal. A school official will approve and verify each note for student dismissal. If a senior driver requests to be dismissed early, the note will be verified via phone by a school official. When sending in a note, please submit the reason and the time of departure. Be sure to include the student’s full name and a contact number. If a student is leaving for an unexcused reason, they will receive 1/9th of an attendance point for every period missed.
Morning Traffic and Student Drop Off
Through traffic is not permitted between the hours of 6:30-7:45 a.m. Vehicles entering from Cedar Road will drop off in front of the main office and depart through the parking lot in front of the school exiting back onto Cedar Road. Students dropped off in the front of the building will enter the school through the doors of the Performing Arts Center. Vehicles entering from Breakneck Road will utilize the parking lot adjacent to the tennis court to loop around and drop off students in front of the Performing Arts Center and will exit back onto Breakneck Road.
*A Reminder for Arrival - Those students arriving by bus will enter school through Pioneer Hall and either go to the New Gym or Cafeteria for breakfast. If you drive or are being dropped off - please note that the main office doors open at approximately 7:20 am so please plan accordingly. If you want to get extra help from a teacher - we ask that you get a pass the day before and present that at the door to get let in.
*Dismissal - will be handled the same manner as the end of last year. 1st Run bus students will exit through the back of the school and report to buses that will be lined up behind the football stadium. 2nd Run bus students will report to the theater and wait for buses to be called. All other students are dismissed at 2:16 and may exit through any door.
Locker Info
Please note: if you are a new student who registered after August 21st, your locker information was not available for import. Please see the main office for your locker number, combination and location.
Any students who may have trouble with their locker should go to the main office for assistance.
Bus Passes/Information
Student bus pass information will be available in PowerSchool. If you have questions or do not have the information listed in PowerSchool, please contact Kelle Harbaugh in the Transportation Office at 223-2735. Due to the fact that buses are scheduled at capacity, students will not be permitted to ride another bus to or from school.
Also, students can only obtain a bus pass for the late buses if they are required to stay after school for a school activity, meeting or tutoring. The student must obtain the bus pass from the teacher in charge of the activity.
Personal/School Items Dropped Off for Students
Students/parents should be aware that if it is necessary to drop off an item that your child has forgotten, it must be left at our Visitor’s Desk in the front main lobby. The student will not be called out of class to pick up the item. It is the student’s responsibility to check at the Visitor Desk in the main lobby between class periods.
