School Nurse
Welcome Back from Nurse Powell!
Parents/Guardians: please be mindful of the following important information:
- All prescription medication to be given at school needs an order from the medical provider.
- All over the counter medication needs to have a parent consent on file and medication supplied by the parent.
- Students are not allowed to carry medication in book bags unless they have a signed order to self medicate for diagnosis of diabetes, severe allergies and asthma. All other medication needs to be kept in the health room.
- Students who need medical accommodations such as use of the elevator, extra time between classes, or frequent bathroom breaks due to a medical problem, must have a note from the medical provider given to the nurse.
- Only injuries that have occurred in school on the same day will be treated by the school nurse. Old injuries should be treated at home.
*Per District 5 School Policy
All immunization records that are updated need to be turned into the nurse as soon as you get a copy. Current immunization requirements for school can be found on www.dhec.sc.gov/health/vaccinations
Please ensure that your student eats a good breakfast daily and keeps hydrated, this helps them to have a good healthy day at school!

Student Parking Passes
Steps to obtain a parking pass for IHS for the new 2022 - 2023 school year:
Possess a state issued driver's license.
Complete the required safety class, Alive at 25. This is a four-hour class and only needs to be completed once during a student's high school tenure. Follow the Alive at 25 link to sign up for the class. The cost of the course is $40. No other class may serve as a substitute for this safety class.
Fill out the application for parking on campus for the 2022-2023 school year using this link: IHS Student Parking Application. This Google form must be completed in its entirety.
Pay for the 2022-2023 Parking Pass. Once a parking application/agreement has been submitted, we will do our best to have the $50.00 parking fee in Rycor by the following day. Follow the Student Quick Pay to pay online with a credit card. Cash, check, and credit card payments can also be made with the bookkeeper in the IHS Main Office. You may pick up your pass from the Irmo High School Main Office.
ALL outstanding debt on the student's school account must be paid in order for a parking pass to be issued.

Staff Highlight - Colleen Marcou 🐝
Ms. Marcou is our 2022-2023 Irmo High School Teacher of the Year!
Role at IHS: I am the Orchestra Director, Guitar Teacher, and National Honor Society Advisor here at Irmo High School.
Years at IHS: This is my 30th year of teaching and I have been at Irmo for 26 of those 30 years.
What you might not know: I have been a cellist in the SC Philharmonic for 31 years. I love to read and cross-stich.
What makes IHS special to me: Irmo High School is real-world to me. We have a wide variety of students from all different backgrounds and parts of the world with a love for everything from Visual and Performing Arts to Athletics and JROTC to every Academic subject and Foreign Language available to them. Those of us who are "franchise" teachers (having been at Irmo for the majority of our careers) will always love this school, her traditions, her successes, and her community.
In my own words: I get to do music all day long. How cool is that? Just goes to show: Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life!
