From the Director

Dear Parents,

We've made it to the long awaited Chuseok holiday!

This week students worked very hard sitting for MAP tests. It was clear that they were committed to doing their best work on these exams. We're very proud of their perseverance. Students who were not able to finish an exam during the allotted time will have the chance to do so once we're back from the Chuseok holiday.

The Student Council was quite busy this week organizing a bake sale meant to raise money for the Halloween Party. They also hosted the first Dress Down day of the school year to help them reach their fundraising goal.

Students who ordered Rob Lloyd Jones books from CDS via Kyobo a few weeks ago received them today. We hope these students spend some time over the holiday diving in to these great reads in anticipation of Mr. Jones' visit on October 16th.

A lot of fantastic learning happened around the school this week. I hope you can find a moment to look through the pictures and check out our fun videos clips.

Have a restful and well deserved Chuseok break!

5th Grade Finishes First Memoir in Mr. Cavasin's Writing Unit

Grade 5 spent time in ELA learning about all the stages of the writing process and just completed their first memoirs. We're happy to report that we're seeing some fantastic pieces of writing from them. The photos below are of 5A working through their peer assessment and editing checklists. They were doing a great job evaluating and giving oral feedback to their peers.

We Run Cheongna!

CDS is happy to announce that our annual fun run event "We Run Cheongna" will take place at the Cheongna Lake Park again this year on Friday, October 13th. On this day, CDS Middle & High School students participate in a variety of middle to long distance runs. "We Run Cheongna" is an event designed to foster community spirit along with grit and perseverance.

The school bus will leave CDS at 1:00PM on We Run Cheongna Day following lunch and some activities led by the Student Council.

Through Term 1 MS G/7-8 Advanced Spanish students are exploring School Systems. They are reflecting on what helps students engage in their school community and what factors support student learning success. For Term #1 project #1, students have been tasked with recording a video describing CDS and sharing their tips to be a successful student in our school.
