These programs will help. Please encourage your student to work hard. Ask them how many levels/units they have completed this week.

NJHS Meetings
- For the remainder of the school year, our group will hold meetings on the first Monday of each month:
- February 6th, March 6th, April 3rd, and May 1st.
- All members are expected to attend meetings; we will hold both a morning (8:20-8:50 AM) and an afternoon (4:15-4:45 PM) session on each date. Each member should choose 1 session to attend.
- Members and their families should discuss which session will work best for their schedules before choosing when to attend.
- Please complete the Google Form to RSVP by the Thursday before each Monday meeting.
- Unfortunately, SCPS does not have activity buses for middle school, so families will need to coordinate transportation or provide permission for the student to walk to or from their chosen meeting time. If a member is not able to attend, they should still use the RSVP Form to let us know that as well.

Rising 9th Grade Registration - ATTENTION 8th GRADERS
Dear H.H. Poole 8th Grade Families,
Our 8th grade students are getting very excited about their upcoming transition to High School. In order to make this considerable change as smooth as possible for students, our school counseling team has been going into 8th grade classrooms this week to speak with students' about their progression into high School and their 9th grade course requests.
Students were provided with a paper copy of their 9th grade course request form and given instructions about filling it out. Once the student has handed in their course request form, a member of the counseling team will meet with each student individually to review their request form. Students are required to get a parents signature before handing in their course request form. If your student was absent on the day that counselors handed out the course selection form, they can always request one from the counseling office.
Although Stafford County is not providing paper copies of the High School Program of Studies (which provides detailed course descriptions), you can access the catalog by clicking here or by going to https://www.staffordschools.net/Page/26320.
Although students are being asked to return their course selection sheets by February 8th, the counseling team will be working to finalize these requests throughout the month of February. If you have questions about your child's course options for 9th Grade, please feel free to make an appointment with me by clicking this link.
Feel free to email me at provenzanojc@staffordschools.net or call me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Johanna Provenzano

Changes to FLEX time
Good Evening Mustang Families,
Starting Monday, January 30th, HHP will be making some changes to our FLEX Time.
After reviewing the most recent MAP data, , HHP teachers and staff need additional time to provide students support in Math and Reading to all students. To address this need, we will need to change how FLEX time is utilized.
Starting January 30th, all students will be assigned to a new location which they will report to every day for FLEX. During this time, students will receive additional targeted practice using MAP Accelerator or ALEKS for Math and Lexia for Reading. Teachers will be able to supplement instruction during these times to help all students be productive during this extra instructional time.
We will be offering incentives to students who make the most progress, who are the most improved, and students who are meeting grade level benchmarks.
In addition to FLEX, students would benefit from utilizing these programs at home. Parents are encouraged to have their child work on MAP Accelerator and Lexia several times a week throughout the remainder of the school year.
If you have any questions, please reach out to a school administrator or counselor.
