Internet Hoax is a deliberately fabricated household made to masquerade as truth. It is distinguishable from errors in observation or judgment, or rumors, urban legends, pseudosciences or April Fools' Day events that are passed along in good faith by believers or as jokes.
iOS7 Waterproof
A spoof ad, circulated mainly through Twitter, made the rather audacious claim that the recent and controversial iPhone software update, to iOS 7, actually made the phone waterproof.
Obama Closed Amber Alert Rumor
Rumours are circulating that amidst the current budget crisis of 2013, President Obama has closed the Amber Alert program – the program in the US that helps locate missing children. But they are false. A misunderstanding has occured as a result of various government websites closing.
Save Toby
Toby was the pet rabbit of James and Brian, creators of SaveToby.com. They created their website in early 2005, promising to kill and eat Toby if they didn’t receive $50,000 dollars by June 30. The animal rights activists claimed it was animal cruetly and attempted to close down the website.
