Dear Families,
The County Department of Public Health has just published guidance for K-12 that students who are exposed to COVID-19 at school may remain at school if they are asymptomatic (do NOT have any symptoms), and if they agree to be tested on Day 3, 4 or 5. As long as they remain asymptomatic and test negative, they are able to continue to participate in the school setting.
If your child is exposed to a positive case at school, you will receive a notification of that exposure, and instructions on when to have your child tested.
Exceptions:
If there is a positive COVID-19 case in the home of your child, then the same guidance for quarantine and testing is in place as before.
Please be sure your child stays at home, and contact your school office regarding questions for their return date.
This guidance is for K-12 only; if your child is in the PreK program, then this update does NOT apply.
Lemon Grove School District is putting this guidance into effect as of this weekend, 1/15/22. However, if your child was sent home as a close contact on 1/14/22 and they remain asymptomatic, and they get tested this weekend, they may come to school on Tuesday, 1/18/22.
Please note that updates occur frequently with COVID-19 guidelines, and this may be a temporary guidance during this peak of infection rates. We will of course keep our families updated.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's school, or you may reach out to communications@lemongrovesd.net.
Thank you for all of your continued support and collaboration to keep our community safe during this time.
Thank you,
Lemon Grove School District
