From the Principal's Office
Dear James Sales Families,
My how time flies! November is here already!
Thank you, parents and students, for all your support. Students are settling in nicely and working hard. Please check-in with your child regularly to see what they are working on in class to see if any support is needed at home. At home you and your student can practice reading, memorize math facts, and support your student with their homework. This support is incredibly important. Thanks in advance for your support in your child’s learning.
We appreciate you listening to our weekly auto dialer messages and emails as we work to keep you informed.
Because of all the hard work of our students and staff, James Sales Elementary is ranked among the top 30% of elementary schools in Washington. in the U.S. News and World Report Best Schools report. You can read the report here. Congratulations! We are proud of our wonderful students and staff!
Sincerely,
Brandy Nelson
Principal

Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month! While we recognize that Native and Indigenous peoples should be celebrated, recognized, and included in our academic curriculum every month, we are excited to take this specific opportunity to celebrate and recognize the ancestry and traditions of Native peoples—especially our James Sales students and families—throughout the month of November. If you or your family would like to contribute something to the display case in our main hallway, please fill out the form that was sent home with your student and return it along with the item. We look forward to partnering with you to celebrate Native American Heritage Month!

Book Fair Update!
A huge THANK YOU to all the families that supported the book fair this year. After all was collected, James Sales had a profit of almost $4,000. We had two anonymous donors this year that helped put a book in the hands of almost 50 extra students. The profits from the book fair will be used to buy books throughout the year and add to the STEM collection in the library. The BOGO Book Fair is coming up in December! It will be a great time to purchase books for gifts.
Picture Retake Day
School picture re-takes are scheduled for the morning of November 30th. Picture re-takes are for anyone who missed picture day because they were absent or because they are a new student since picture day. Those who are dissatisfied with their original packet of pictures may also have their pictures re-taken. The complete original packet of pictures must be returned on re-take day to have a re-take. The office has picture order envelopes if you want to make an order of you may order online at qualityschoolportraits.com. The school code is JAME9.
From the Health Room
Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Students are outside every day for recess and need warm jackets, hats, and proper footwear. It is getting cold and wet outside and we want our students coming back to class refreshed and ready to learn, not damp and shivering for the remainder of the day.
Download the document in the box below for registration information for this meeting.

Reminders from the Office
- If you need to come into the building, please press the telephone button on your right as you look at the front door. This will enable the office to see you and to buzz you into the entry if needed.
- Please notify the office of any changes in the way your child will go home at the end of the day. We need this information before 2:45 so we have time to get a note to the teacher.
- Call the office if your child will be absent. If they have an appointment, please ask the doctor, dentist, counselor, etc. for a note for school. Offices that treat children are used to giving notes to students for excuses!
- If you need to take your child out of school before the end of the school day, please come before 2:45 so you won't be stuck in the end-of-the-day pick-up line! You will need to sign your child out and wait for them to come from their classroom, so allow plenty of time.
- If your phone number, email address, or home address changes, please let us know so we have the most up-to-date contact information for you. If they become ill, or otherwise need your help, we need a way to contact you! Thank you!
