B Cohort Item Pick-Up

Given our new direction that starts on Monday, November 16th, we are asking parents/guardians of our B Cohort students to stop by and get the materials needed for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. We heard many parents at the last pick-up speak to the point that the offered times were during Google Meets with teachers, so we have altered the pick-up time a bit. We will start at 7:00 AM and run through 10:00 AM. This should allow early risers to get here quickly, while still leaving time for the post-breakfast crowd. ** There is no work for K students per the K teaching team. **

Thank you all again for your help. These pick-ups are very helpful for the students and staff as they allow us to moderate the time in front of screens when students are learning at home.

Continuing The Tradition Of The Turkey Trot

J.R. Briggs Turkey Trot 2020

The Giving Does NOT Stop.

Dear Briggs Families and Friends,

Over the past 15+ years, John R. Briggs has held a Turkey Trot Food Drive the day before the student’s Thanksgiving Break. Even though the circumstances have changed and we will not be running as a group, it is a tradition that we want to keep going. On average, as a school, we have collected between 800-1000 food items a year that are then donated to Ashburnham’s local Food Pantries. These donations are vital for them during this time of year.

What we are asking is that the students bring in non-perishable food items to be donated between November 16th - 24th. These food items can be dropped off by the Gym during these dates. This year we will not be counting the items but rather giving a rough estimate of how many items were donated. Items in greatest need are; pasta and pasta sauce, soups, canned vegetables, tuna, baked beans, and oatmeal!

Here at J.R. Briggs Elementary School, we realize that these are unprecedented times for many people and that there are many families in need. Through the Turkey Trot, we hope to educate the students of J.R. Briggs on the importance of giving to those in need. Each year the students seem to amaze me with how gracious they are and willing to help others. I truly feel this year will be no different.

I hope you all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Mr. Berg

Counselor Resources

Times have been very challenging lately. The counselors throughout the school district have created a set of resources for both families and students. Take a look when you have a moment. https://sites.google.com/awrsd.org/awrsdfamilymentalhealth/home
