The Basics of Breast Cancer and the symptoms and Problems with it
- Some cells become immortal which means they never stop dividing.
- A mass of cells eventually turn into a tumor. Most tumors are harmless but some are bad, and they are called Cancerous, and they never stop growing.
- These Cancerous cells travel around, and increase in size everywhere. This is called Metastasis.
- If the Cancerous cells move to an organ it could result in death. (This is the most common way to die)
The Stages of Breast Cancer
STAGE 1: 2 cm. 100% survival chance
STAGE 2: A- No cancer cells, but there is a tumor. 2-5 cm. 86% survival chance
STAGE 2: B- More than 5 cm. 86% survival chance
STAGE 3: Defiantly cancer cells. 51% survival chance
STAGE 4: The cancer has spread to your organs and many times the doctors do not catch breast cancer until this stage. 20 % survival chance

Signs of Breast Cancer
-Sharp pain in your breast. (Mastalgia)
-Many breast lumps are not cancerous.
-Rough skin texture or visible veins.
-loss of weight.
In early stages there is no symptoms.
4 ways to know you have breast cancer
MRI- (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Another way to exam breast tissue.
Ultra Sound- Ultrasonic wound waves to produce an image.
Biopsy- Removal of some breast tissue for testing.
Current research going on....
Right now there is no cure that works every time. These are just some links of researching websites.

Treated in the past and treated now
Mastectomy- When the doctor removes the whole breast, to get rid of the tumor and tissue.
Lumpectomy-Doctors just remove the tumor.
Chemotherapy- (most common) Drugs.
Radiation- Where x-rays treat cancer by radiation waves.
More about Lumpectomy
-incision (cut) is made and the surgeon removes the tumor and tissue around it.
-After it is examined it will either have cancer in it or not.
At the beginning of this process if the tumor can not be located the surgeon will have to inserts a tube to find it before the tumor can be taken out.

Hairloss..... :(
More about Mastectomy
A surgery to remove all breast tissue and prevent breast cancer. If not to late it can also stop the cancer from spreading anymore.
It is very effective!!
Breast Reconstruction
More about Radiation
External and Internal/Brachytherapy.
Radiation- Radiation is used to destroy all cancer cells.
External Radiation
-Painless
-It is like a x-ray, but more intense.
-The machine is outside the body to do the radiation.
-Before the surgery, the Radiation beams or pellets need to have perfect measurements.
-Receive Radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks or a large dose for only 1 week.
-Therapy does not start for 1-2 mounts after the procedure.
-If Chemo is needed it Radiation is done after Chemo.
Side effects of External Radiation
-Swelling
-Heaving
-Shrinkage
-Hardening
-And there is almost 2 years of recovery
Internal Radiation/Brachytherapy
1) Radioactive seeds or pellets go into the breast tissue by the cancer.
2) Small tubes goint the breast tissue where the cancer is, and slowly over days radioactive pellets go through the tubes and into the cancer cells.
Side effects of Internal Radiation/Brachytherapy
-Redness.
-Pain.
-Infection.
-Breakdown of fat tissue.
-Weakening or fracture of ribs.
