8th Grade Band Sets 2 School Records!!!

Congratulations to the OMS 8th Grade Band for their fine performance at Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Wayland Middle School on Saturday, Dec. 5th. Once again, the 8th grade sent more combined solo and ensemble events than any other school, including all class A schools. Also noteworthy is that they set 2 school records! ALL ensembles received a 1st division rating for the first time in school history! Secondly, every event resulted in a medal, but every student took home at least one 1st Division Medal, again, a first for OMS. Congratulations to the following students who all received at least one first division, or blue medal: Maria Germain, Becca Gardner, Molly Fitzpatrick, Rose Blade, Katie Calkins, Courtney Henry, Kayla Merrill, Mina Bohl, Julia Walker, Jared Swope, Hayden Brazee, Taryn Guthrie, Seth Stender, Alleigh Longstreet, Phelipe Perez, Sadey Huizing, Tyler DeHaan, Jake Baker, Haley Scobey, Turner Rohr, Brendan McKenzie, Nate Misner, Craig Prause, Dave Stiles, Gabe Mills, Greyson Sharp, Kaitlynn Robinson, Seth McPherson, Josh Sunnerville, Chad Garton, Charlie Woodhams, Maddy Slager, Thomas Gavan, Kyle Brown, Logan Smith, Brooklyn Ray & Jakob Woods. A special congratulations to Kayla Krusinga who took home three 1st Division Ratings and Caleb Piersma who took home four 1st Division Ratings! An enormous thank you and congratulations goes out to our band directors, Mr. Piersma & Mr. Morrisson for ensuring they were properly prepared. You made Otsego very proud!

Attention 8th Grade Parents!

OHS is gearing up for our 2nd Annual 9th grade Camping Trip in the fall. We would like to start fundraising earlier this year and would value your input. The more money we raise, the more scholarship opportunities we will have AND we might even raise enough money to lower the cost of the camp for next year’s 9th graders (your kids J). Please consider attending a “Kick off” meeting for fundraising on December 17 at 6 pm in the office directly across from the OMS gymnasium. It will be best to use the back entrance near the cafeteria. IMPORTANT: By attending the meeting, you will not necessarily be asked to help fundraising efforts…but will be asked for ideas for such efforts. Please contact Anna Starr at astarr@otsegops.org with any questions.

Going, Going, Gone

Is your student missing a few clothes? I bet I know where they might be! Our Lost & Found table is overflowing. Please encourage your son or daughter to check the table by Wed., Dec. 16th. Anything left after Wed. will be donated to charity.
