Term 2 Week 10 - 3 July 2020

Big picture

Dear Parents,

Well the term is done and I think we can all be very proud of how our community has handled and responded to some very difficult times. I hope that everyone has the opportunity to have some fun these holidays, spend some quality time with family and friends and relax! I will be venturing down to Denmark with surfboards, motorbikes, our tinny and 16 of my best mates and their children! No phone reception or devices allowed!

We have lots to look forward to next Semester and I hope that over the holidays the restrictions are further relaxed to allow for more opportunities for our students here at Holy Rosary. When we return it is likely you will start to see progress on our new build and I look forward to keeping you updated as we move forward.

Thanks again to everyone for their support and kindness, we all loved our teacher appreciation day and I thank Anita Carr and everyone involved for making Thursday special for our staff!

Just a reminder that if you intend travelling interstate in the holidays you need to inform the Office of your plans.

As of May 23, the Western Australian Border is closed. Travellers may not enter the state and residents may not leave the state, unless they’re granted a special exemption. In addition, those who are permitted entry (including returning residents) are required to self-isolate for 14 days.

Only complete and return these forms if any details have changed.

Thank you.

Holy Rosary Cross Country 2020

Holy Rosary celebrated our love of running last Friday with the Holy Rosary Cross Country for all students in Year 3 – 6 inclusive.

The weather held out and we all had a fabulous day with lots of smiles and laughter. There were some fantastic performances on the day with everyone giving their all.

In a tight fought competition Blue faction just got over the line again this year. The competition was tighter than ever however, with only 27 point between 1st and 4th place.

I would like to thank all of the parents and staff that made the day possible and everyone that came down to Jackadder to support our wonderful children.

Rob Flexman - P.E Teacher

Our year hasn’t quite happened as we had planned! As a P&F Committee, we had wanted to create lots of opportunities for our Holy Rosary Community to get to know each other better, have some fun and spend time creating family memories.

While we are hoping we can still do this later on in the year, I think what we created as a community this week for our Teacher Appreciation Day was such a testament to what we can achieve together.

Thank you so much to all of our awesome Parent Reps for rising to the challenge on short notice to coordinate our secret squirrel business for the teachers! We literally couldn’t have achieved what we did without you.

Thank you to all of the parents for making the Parent Rep jobs easier by getting your envelope back and completed on time with such gorgeous drawings and messages. The teachers loved them!

Lastly, a big thanks to the P&F team for executing quite a big task flawlessly!

This week the Committee also voted to contribute $19 000 to the school which will be spent on an array of resources for our kids which includes: new readers, decodable readers, dyslexia novels, Diana Rigg resources, a giant outdoor chess set and much more.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Happy Holidays!

Anita Carr

P&F President

I am feeling very blessed to be a part of our community ❤️

Thank you for all your support of our Library during this term when things have been a bit unpredictable! I am so excited that the Scholastic Book Fair is able to go ahead in week 2, next term. The children love the fair and the library loves the free books, but it does require a lot of work so I am asking for parent helpers on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, before and after school and at lunchtimes. No experience necessary, just some extra adults to help with payments (cash and EFT) and crowd control. If you have 45 minutes to spare, I would so appreciate your help. You can complete the form below and I will email you in week 1 with the roster:

Due to Social Distancing restrictions and limited library space, we have extended the Fair over 3 days. Children will be sent home with a wish list so you can pay online at home and books can be collected from me during the week. Also, we ask that Yr 1-2 parents visit the fair on Wednesday, Yr 3-4 parents Thursday and Yr 5-6 parents visit on Friday. Kindy and PP parents are welcome any morning from 8.45-9.15am.

Have wonderful and happy holidays!

The uniform is worn by students in Years One to Six. The way the uniform is worn makes a statement about our school. At all times students are to wear the uniform with pride and respect for all that it symbolises.

Wearing of the school uniform is compulsory at school. Shirts are to be tucked in and shoes kept cleaned and in good order. Hair must be neat and styled in a manner in keeping with primary school standards. Students with hair longer than collar length are to wear their hair tied back. All hair must be clean with fringes above eyebrow length. Jewellery is limited to a watch and, if parents permit, earrings. If earrings are worn they are limited to plain gold or silver studs or sleepers and only one pair may be worn at a time – one in each ear, or not at all. Necklaces, bracelets and rings are not to be worn as they pose a hazard in school and sport activities. Children also get upset if they go missing or are broken. No nail polish or makeup is to be worn.

Physical Education and sports clothes are to be worn correctly on the days set aside. Girls’ netball jackets are not to be worn. School hats are worn all year round at school, whenever the students are outside.

Please see below for full Uniform Policy.

Please note Uniforms are to be ordered online through Perm-A-Pleat. Go to the School website www.hrs.wa.edu.au and follow the Families Link on the top right of the page.
