Principal's Corner: September Scoop!

East Elementary Families,

September has arrived, and we're gearing up for a fantastic month of learning and fun! Our students have already embraced school expectations and are diving into their studies with enthusiasm. It's been amazing to see their leadership qualities shining through right from the start. These leadership skills will continue to grow and evolve as we journey through the school year together.

Let's keep the momentum going and make September an extraordinary time of growth and discovery!

Remember that September 4th is a student and staff holiday.

Your Principal,

Melissa Torrence

Attendance and Hours

It is important for students to be at school every day and on time. Students are considered tardy after 7:45 am and will need an adult to sign them into school. When the bell rings at 7:45 it is the parent's responsibility to park in a parking space and walk your student into the front office to sign them into school. If your child is sick, remember to send a doctor's note or parent note when they return.

Arrival Time:

7:15 am

Dismissal Time:

Begins 3:30 pm

Car Line and Traffic Flow

In the mornings, we use a SINGLE file line closest to the building and work hard to open 6 car doors at a time. If your student is able to open the door and get out unassisted, they may do so after all traffic has come to a complete stop.

Afternoon Dismissal:

We split into 2 lanes

  • Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and sibling groups are assigned to the line closest to the building
  • 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are assigned to the lane away from the building (it runs through the small parking lot and students will cross the driveway for pickup).

We will use Car Rider Pro again this year. If you are a new student then you received your car tag at Meet the Teacher and if you have a returning student you use the same tag as last year. If you need an additional or replacement tag, the cost is $7 due to the cost of tags increasing.

  • You must have your Car Rider Pro tag hanging for it to scan on the reader. DO NOT block the reader.
  • The scanner will not start scanning tags until 2 pm. You may not line up prior to that time
