THE MAYFLOWER CONTRACT
What is it?: The Mayflower Contract is a document, or agreement on the following the laws. It was the first attempt at self government. All rules for the colony would be made using majority-rule democratic principles.
United States Government
What is it? The united states government is a federal constitution republic. It includes a President and a vice president; which are in the executive branch. Then the legislative branch, including the house of representatives, and the senate. Last but not least is the judicial branch, which includes the supreme court.

The constitution is a set of rules that guides how a country, state, or other political organization works. The constitution may tell what the branches of the government are, what powers they have, and how they work.
Whats similar?
The mayflower compact and the united states government today is very similar. They both have their citizens vote on which they want there laws to be. They both give you freedom and rights if you follow these laws.
