Plant Sale Tomorrow! 5/14

Principal's Message
HBMS Families,
I want to sincerely thank you for all you have done to support our efforts through this trying year. We have heard from so many of you that you truly appreciate the HBMS staff as we take each day at a time through education in year 2 of Covid 19. Last week we were showered with this appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week. We also felt the support of your school when you attended Hannah Palooza. The turnout for this event was tremendous and meant so much to us to be able to share the past 25 years of HBMS with you. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alberth
8th Grade Events
- Students must be eligible to attend the field trip, the dance, and Honor's Night ceremony based on the 8th Grade Expectations (grades, behavior, and attendance) that were shared earlier in the year. Students who are not eligible have been notified and had discussions with the assistant principal, Mr. Gschwend.
- The dress code for both the dance and the Honors Ceremony is school-appropriate clothing that honors the student and celebrates the event.
- Students must attend the full day of school to be eligible for any evening events.
8th Grade Dance Information - NOTE TIME CHANGE
Mark your calendars for this year's 8th-grade celebration. It will be held in the gymnasium:
Friday, May 20th
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Tickets are $10.00 per student and will go on sale NEXT WEEK! Students will be able to purchase tickets during their lunch period every day next week!
Rules of the dance:
- No tuxes, strapless dresses, jeans, t-shirts, cut-offs or limousines.
- Only 8th-grade students from Hannah Beardsley can attend
- Students are not allowed to leave early unless they are checked out by a parent
- Students must attend the entire day of school in order to attend the dance.
8th Grade Honors Night - May 23rd
We are planning to hold the ceremony outside if the weather cooperates. No tickets will be required if we can be outside. HOWEVER, if it is determined that we must hold the ceremony inside, the limited capacity of the gym will require each person to have a ticket. 4 tickets will be issued per family and handed out to the students on May 20th. We will determine if we are going to be outside or inside 24 hours in advance of the event and notify families.

Today is the last day to enroll for next school year!
If you have been recently contacted about your Proof of Residency needing to be updating, this is required before you can complete Online Enrollment for next year.
Returning student enrollment needs to be completed in order for your child to see their class schedule in August before the first day of school.
Please check your ParentVue for any outstanding fees - thank you.
Illness - When to keep your child at home
Over the past several weeks, District 47 has also seen an increase in the number of positive COVID cases, influenza, RSV and other cold-like illnesses among both staff and students. We ask that you please follow the guidelines for keeping your child at home posted on the district’s website.

PTO News
Happy last weeks of the 2021-22 HBMS School Year!
I can’t believe how quickly the year sailed by. This is my last post, as the Palmers are moving onto high school days. The HBMS PTO had a fantastic year. We raised almost $10,000 through fundraisers, including Charleston Wrap, Butter Braid, Spirit Wear, Concessions, Dining for Dollar$, and Saver’s FUNDrive. This enabled the PTO to bring some spirit and ambiance into our school hallways for the students to enjoy all year long. We sponsored season-end awards events for our cross country, volleyball and basketball teams, treated our awesome faculty and staff to a Taco Bar luncheon during Teacher Appreciation Week; sponsored HBMS families in need through the Giving Tree; celebrated our HBMS Honor Roll students by providing Dunkin’ Donuts; provided incentives during our fund drives to help meet sales goals, funded year-end outings for our 6th and 8th graders, and so many other behind the scenes efforts. A huge thank you to all the HBMS families, faculty, staff and volunteers who helped to make this possible. On behalf of the PTO, we are truly grateful to all of you for your support. None of this could have been accomplished without a great leadership team. My heartfelt thanks to Natalie Butler (Vice President), Erin Kaye (Treasurer) and Tracy Vander Mey (Secretary) for always stepping up to help and making my year as President so much fun! I will miss you guys!
HBMS PTO 2022-23 Leadership
This year’s PTO worked hard to find a team to lead the HBMS PTO 2022-23 school year. We are excited to announce next year’s slate:
President: Kristin Kohlhase
Vice President: Kim Mazur
Treasurer: Sharon Snow
Secretary: Tracy Vander Mey
Thanks to everyone who has stepped up to fill vacant committee leadership positions for next year! We are still in need of the following chairs/co-chairs:
HBMS School Spirit: (1) Co-Chair
Concessions Sales: Co-Chairs
Activity Nights: (1) Co-Chair
We are really hoping for an energetic team to lead our concession sales for next year. This is one of our highest earning fundraisers! This year we made close to $2500! HBMS is the only school in our district conference that provides concessions during home games. We made a name for ourselves this year…especially during the 85-degree Track ‘n Field Home Games!
