Wiley Teacher of the Year
Kathy Foglia
Congratulations to Kathy, one of our reading intervention teachers. Ms. Foglia works tirelessly to build relationships with students, to boost their self-esteem, develop their growth mindset, and help them reach their academic goals. We lovingly joke about not being able to catch her on camera because she is always on the go, teaching as if her hair were on fire! Moreover, she supports her colleagues and lives a life of servant leadership. As a parent to two former Wiley students, Ms. Foglia has invested years into making this school one of which we can all be proud. She serves on the board for the Cecila Rawlins Fund, a group that supports families that may be facing financial crisis. We adore Ms. Foglia and are so proud to have her represent Wiley as the 2019 Teacher of the Year.
Wiley Instructional Assistant of the Year
Hadley Cairns Heath
Way to go, Hadley! Ms. C works with Mrs. Thompson in Kindergarten. There she serves as a true teaching assistant, pulling groups for intervention and enrichment. Her kind demeanor, skills in supporting students' academic and social and emotional needs, and her willingness to pitch in for anything make her an invaluable member of the Wiley family. She is thoughtful and reflective and lives the Global Matrix as someone who investigates, recognizes varying perspectives, communicates ideas and takes action. You may have seen Hadley organizing one of the many events or initiatives of the Wiley PTA in her role as parent of Wiley students. Thank you, Hadley. We are so proud to have you represent us.
