The Scoop On Stagg
Volume 25: Week of February 12, 2024
A Note from Principal Bolden
Happy Sunday, Stagg Family!
I hope that this newsletter finds you well, and preparing to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday! I want to thank each of your hard work and participation during Fridays PD day. We took time to plan our work and now we get to work our plan! I believe that our scholars will appreciate what we will offer them as a result of our learning. Let's do this!
This week, we want to know how you plan to apply your learning. Answer the question of the week here.
GLTs will be held on Wednesday this week. We will focus on our unit plans and extracting student learning outcomes.
We want to send a special thanks to Ms. Burnes for leading PD for Diverse Learner teachers and SECAS, Coach Muhammad and Ms.Gill for leading learning for Pre-K teachers, and Ms. L. Smith for spearheading our school store! You ladies rock!
Let's have an incredible week!
Attendance
This Week's Attendance
In week 24, our 7th and 8th grade scholars had attendance above 95%. Way to go! Shout out to Pre-K, 1st, 4th, and 6th grade scholars had attendance higher than 90%. We experienced an increase from the previous three weeks. Woo-Hoo!! The goal is that we celebrate students when they show up and provide them with learning experiences that will encourage them to return. Celebrate attendance, even in a small way. As we welcome warmer temperatures this week, be sure to reach out to families and encourage students to attend school.
By now, every classroom should have an in-house incentive that applies only to their class. Please ensure that these are visible in your rooms. This should co-exist with our school wide attendance incentives. Let us also keep in mind how attendance impacts on track data. There is power in showing up, and being counted!
Continue to consider what might motivate students to attend school each day. What is something that you can do this week to improve our attendance? Within your class? As a grade band? Are we contacting families? Rewarding students for daily attendance? Consider your needs, and if you must, reach out for support. Our strategies will be crucial as the weather starts to change. We are in this together. Every student, every day, no excuses!
Please be sure to reach out to families when students are absent for more than 2 days. Once contact has been made, please fill out an attendance concern form and the attendance committee will take additional steps to check in on students.
