Here is what is happening in U.S History

Wolverine Family,

For these 3rd nine weeks, 8th grade social studies will be focusing on the eras of Westward Expansion, Industrialization, and how Sectionalism in the United States leads to Civil War. We will have our CBA 3 on February 8th, this test will contain questions from units 6-8, which will cover Andrew Jackson, westward expansion and the age of Industrialization. Recently in our classrooms, we’ve been focusing a lot on vocabulary and incorporating new words into our lessons, readings and conversations. We’ve been practicing speaking and sharing ideas with each other in learning groups, as well as practicing our writing through written response prompts that generate thought. Our hope is that this will help with content comprehension since there’s so much to learn in our U.S. History content. Coming up in the final 9 weeks, we’ll dive into the Civil War, what caused it and what the impacts were. We’ll also work on projects about the Civil War and begin our review for STAAR in a couple of months.
