As we turn to the final month of the school year students may begin dreaming of summer vacation. While this is perfectly normal, a healthy dose of focus is required to finish the year on a positive note. Please discuss this potential for a “summer-slide” with your students and encourage them to not waste the nearly 10 months of effort by starting to coast in May. To our parents of seniors, please encourage your students to finish their 13-year educational journey with pride.
I was extremely proud of the focus shown by our 9th, 10th and 11th graders during ACT and Pre-ACT testing day on April 4th. It was clear that our students took the test very seriously and gave the tests their best efforts. Thank you for reinforcing high expectations for the ACT tests and valuing high school and post-secondary education. Your conversations and expectations matter. I am sure at times as a parent, you may feel like your kids don’t always listen to you… trust me, your messages make a difference! In the coming weeks, we anticipate receiving Pre-ACT scores. We will share individual score sheets with students and then notify parents that students have received their scores. Generally, we receive the reports prior to the end of the school year and we hope to again have scores distributed before finals.
ESHS students will be dismissed early on both finals testing days in May. On Tuesday, May 23rd, students will be dismissed at 12:55 after taking finals in periods 1,2, 3 and 4. On Wednesday, May 24th, students will be dismissed at 11:45 after completing finals in periods 5,6, and 7. **Please note that no lunches are served on these final two days of school. **Please note that the school year is ending two days early due to the small number of “inclement weather days.
In order to protect the academic integrity of the assessments and to ensure that students are fully prepared for finals, students will not be permitted to take early finals. Please schedule trips, vacations, and the like around these two days. I appreciate your cooperation.
On behalf of the staff here at ESHS, I’d like to thank all of you for sharing your children with us this year. Your partnership is invaluable to our success as a school district and we are truly fortunate to have such a supportive community. Your dedication as parents, our students’ commitment to excellence and our teachers’ passion for teaching and learning has created a wonderful year full of accomplishments and memories. I am proud to have served you and your students this year at ESHS and I look forward to many great years ahead. Thank you and please have a safe and relaxing summer. I will be at the school the majority of the summer, save for a few weeks in July. Please feel free to call my office or email if we can be of assistance at the end of the year or over the summer break.
Take Care,
Mark

2023-2024 Online Registration Reminder
For the upcoming school year, EPS will again utilize an online registration system that will allow parents of K-12 students to log in and update information and complete all Back-to-School documents. As a reminder, to use this feature, parents/guardians will need to have a parent-access account in PowerSchool.
If you do not already have a parent-access account, please follow this link for directions on how to create an account. However, this is a preparation step, and you will not be able to complete the online registration process until July. An email will be sent to the primary PowerSchool account email address when online registration is available.
If you have an account created but need to add additional students, please follow this link for directions on doing so: https://bit.ly/2wDNJuT.
If you have any questions or need assistance setting up your account, please contact Penny Rohl, ESHS;s counseling secretary. prohl@epsne.org
