Robert R. McMannon
Cory Mackenson's life as a child in Zephyr is one of mystery, magic, and even more mystery just waiting to unfold. After a murder in the small town in Alabama takes place, Cory's father learns about how true evil can lurk anywhere in the world. The murder mystery comes up now and again as more clues rise, but Cory's life as a boy happens throughout the story. His boyhood happens as any other's might happen in the magic world of one's own childhood. The common playful antics and defenses against the ever changing world around him creates several bends and turns for the 12 year old to explore.
My Favorite Boy's Life Quote
"See, this is my opinion: we all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible."
