November 8th is a Digital Learning Day!
Our second Digital Learning Day is approaching for ALL students on Tuesday, November 8th. We are grateful for the opportunity to have this day to allow teachers to plan future lessons for students.
On Digital Learning Days, students can find all their lessons and assignments on eCLASS. There is no live instruction, but teachers will be checking email periodically throughout the day for any questions you may send.
Meals will be delivered along all bus routes between 10:45 am and 12:00 pm on November 8th. Students aged 18 and below can go to the bus stop to receive a meal.
Student Devices for Digital Learning Day
Each student has a Chromebook assigned to them for work during the school day. To help your child be able to access everything they need for completing school work from home, Brookwood Elementary will send home your child's assigned Chromebook on Monday, November 7th. Your child must bring their Chromebook back to school on Wednesday, November 9th unless you have previously asked your child's teacher to not send home the Chromebook. Information about using your child's Chromebook at home can be found at the Parents' 1:1 website.
Counselor Corner
Dear Parents,
Happy National Gratitude Month! This month we will be busy learning all about Gratitude-what it means, why it’s important and how we can show gratitude. The ability to show gratitude not only allows us to feel at peace with the possessions we have, but it also helps us to build strong relationships with others. Gratitude is not an instinct; it has to be taught. We are all born egocentric by nature, but there are many ways we can learn to appreciate the things and people in our lives.
Below are some opportunities that you can help your child continue to learn about Gratitude at home. We look forward to exploring this topic at school, and we hope your family will enjoy it just as much!
Sincerely,
Your Counselors
Angel Cunningham (K-2) & LaKendra Todd-Collins (3-5)
READ ABOUT IT! - Here are some books to help learn more about Bullying:
- Bear Says Thanks By Karma Wilson
- Gratitude is My SuperPower By Alicia Ortega
- I am Thankful By Sheri Wall
- The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
PRACTICE IT!
Insist that your child write thank-you notes for gifts and acts of service. Younger children can draw a picture or even dictate the words while you write. Older children can write longer letters with more detail. Just the act of thinking about how much they loved their gift will make them feel more grateful for it.
TALK ABOUT IT!
5-Day Gratitude Challenge
- What is your favorite season and why?
- What is one good thing about where you live?
- What is something you love about yourself?
- Who is a person in your life you are grateful for and why?
- What is something in nature that you’re thankful for?

Brookwood Elementary PTA Fall Clean Up Day
Please join us for a campus grounds beautification work day to benefit our beloved school! Did you know that Brookwood has our own garden? We do!! It is an amazing asset to our school - an outdoor classroom for our Stem classes. We will be laying mulch to the area around the 10 raised beds located near the gym. But, that’s not all…we will also give the front of the school a facelift by trimming bushes as well as planting some new flowers by the school sign and in the planters by the front door.
Kids are welcome and encouraged to come work alongside their parents. What better way to instill pride in your school than sweat equity mixed with some fun?! Also, don’t forget to bring your gardening tools, hedge trimmers, shovels, gloves, rakes, wheelbarrows, a water bottle as well as any cardboard boxes you might have (with tape removed - to line the ground before we add mulch).
Please let us know you will be coming to volunteer by signing up on the Brookwood Elementary PTA Fall Clean Up Day SignUpGenius. Can’t wait to see you there!
