Pearl Harbor

On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese attacked the US naval base in Hawaii. This was meant to scare the Americans and accept that Japan would have control of many other countries, but the US was angered by this and it united us. This had the opposite affect Japan was hoping for, instead of surrendering we were determined to enter WWII.

Interment Camps

This reminded me of a cause and effect situation. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, then the US government was suspicious of every Japanese person living in on the west coast of America, so they were sent to Interment Camps. This was unfair to send all when they might have done nothing.

Racial Discrimination

Result of the Pearl Harbor attack, Japanese Americans faced racial discrimination from stores and the public. Some people despised them for what Japan had done and it was like the same problem blacks for facing from whites.

Hiroshima Bomb

The US was inching closer and closer to making Japan surrender and we made one final decision to help us win the war, drop the bomb. In 1945, Harry Truman, our president of the time, ave the go-ahead to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima killing thousands immediately and destroying the city completely. This was the first ever atomic bomb used in warfare.

Nagasaki Bomb

Only three days later, Harry Truman decided to drop another bomb in Japan, but on a different city, Nagasaki. From both bombs, this destroyed both cities and killed over 100,000 people in Japan. Later that year in August Japan finally surrendered, ending the war. This was the last time anyone has used an atomic bomb, ever.
