The Compass
Week of August 22, 2022
Navigation Notes
Greetings Westside Families! We had a great week with ALL of our Explorers on campus. Thank you for your patience with arrival and dismissal as we ensured our littlest Explorers were safe and cared for starting last week.
Reminder that Westside qualified as a CEP school which means that ALL students will receive a FREE breakfast and FREE lunch daily! You may still set up an account for "a la carte' items at MyPaymentsPlus.com.
SAVE THE DATE: Open House will be on Thursday, September 1st from 5p-7p. See below for more details.
Arrival Updates: With many new families joining our school, the morning car loop and arrival is very busy. We have been working on solutions to ease the traffic and speed up the process. See the options below:
- ALL car riders can come through the SIDE car loop in the mornings starting at 7:30-8:00AM as we have been doing. Please be sure your child is ready to exit car once you approach the unloading zone.
- * NEW* After 7:45AM each morning when buses are gone, families may begin using the FRONT car loop as well to decrease the traffic and time. You will be directed to pull through the lane closest to building like our dismissal process. Please be sure your child is ready to exit car once you approach the unloading zone. This option closes at 8:00AM.
- If you choose, families may PARK in our front lot and WALK your child up to the front doors.
- If you are running late, please park and escort your child into the Front Office to sign them in. Doors close at 8:00am.
As always, thank you for your support! Our office will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM. Please come on in if we can assist you in any way.

Cell Phone Policy Cell Phones must be powered off and stored in backpacks once students reach campus. They are not permitted to turn them on at any time during the day and until they leave campus. Smartwatches can be worn as long as students are not texting or receiving phone calls that disrupt learning. If a child needs to reach you, or vice versa, we will use our school phone system. Students who do not comply with the policy run the risk of having devices confiscated by administration until end of day or a parent/guardian can come retrieve it. | Dress for Success! Clothing for school should be comfortable and appropriate. Please follow these guidelines when choosing outfits for each day:
| Head Lice Policy If a child is identified as having live head lice, the child must be treated at home and must be accompanied to the school clinic the next day with the parent to check for live head lice. If no nits are found, further rechecking will not be done. If nits are found, the student will be readmitted and checked in 8-10 days. If live lice are found, the student will NOT be readmitted and the entire process will need to be repeated. Please see the attached flyer at the bottom of this newsletter for more information. |
