Copyright Laws for Multimedia Class
Woonsocket Multimedia Class
What does it mean?
Copyright laws were created to protect the owners and their intellectual property. When your idea becomes reality then it becomes copyrighted material. There are guidelines on how you can use someones intellectual property. These laws can restrict how we use music, photos, video and other sources of media in our class. So how do we use media and protect ourselves from copyright infringement? I am glad you asked!
Audio
Audio recordings can be used as long as you use 10%, or no more than 30 seconds of an individual work including music and lyrics.
Video
Videos in your project can use up to 10% or 3 minutes, whichever is less in you projects.
Photos
a photograph or illustration may be used but no more than five images by an artist or photographer may be reproduced or otherwise used as part of an educational project.
Give Some Credit!
It is important to remember to give credit on any of the media that you use in your project. You should combine the credit and copyright information and always cite your source!
