~ Chief Charlo Library ~

National Librarian Day is April 16. Since the 16th falls on a Saturday this year, please encourage your student(s) to take a couple of moments during the week to let Mrs. Greil know how much they appreciate her and all she does to help them find the perfect book to read and learn how the library works. Mrs. Greil is definitely the heart of our library!!

Farm to School and Garden Committee

Farmer in the Classroom
On Wednesday April 6th, Farmer Erin returns to Chief Charlo 2nd grade classrooms for the final Farmer in the Classroom visit. We will play a final review game to test what we’ve learned about Montana farming topics this year including storage veggies, apples, wheat, cows, and honey bees and will celebrate with a taste of Montana Superbread!

Garden City Harvest Farmer-Educators teach two sets of lessons in Chief Charlo's School Garden each spring and fall. In the spring, Kindergarteners and 3rd graders visit the garden for composting and planting lessons and return as 1st graders and 4th graders in the fall to harvest veggies and put the garden to bed. In the spring, we also offer a 30-minute planting activity for other grade levels.

Save the Date and join us on Saturday, April 23rd from 10am-1pm for a garden work day! We will be replacing the garden beds and installing a new, drought-tolerant, low water watering system. We are looking for 20 volunteers. Snacks and drinks provided by the PTO. Sign up at the following link:

Families in Transition (FIT) Program

The Families in Transition (FIT) Program is here to assist Chief Charlo students and families experiencing housing instability (McKinney-Vento Act) and/or economic hardship. FIT works as a bridge between those families, our school and the district staff to empower students to stay in school and remain successful both in school and as lifelong learners. FIT also provides families access to community resources and services.

FIT is here to support your family, because we care about all of our Wolves - BIG and small!!

MOR4Kids Kickball Fundraiser

Big picture
MOR4Kids (a 501C3) was created in 2011 after members of the Missoula Organization of REALTORS (MOR) recognized a growing need in Missoula’s school system. Kids are going to school hungry, without the proper supplies or clothing. These kids live in our neighborhoods and are friends with our children.
  • More than 600 Missoula students go home with backpacks full of food to sustain them through the weekend.

  • MOR4Kids (a 501C3) has donated about $290,000 through gift cards to 30 Missoula area schools.

  • Thousands of dollars in like-kind contribution of supplies have been donated.
