Term 3 Week 6 2023
Dear Lord, we appreciate the gift of working together in a team, may we strive to give our best and support each other. Guide us to encourage others and help play our role. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen
As a community centred on the example of Christ, the following core values (CARE) underpin our approach.
We value every member of our school community and we are committed to working together to reach our shared goals through mutual support, encouragement, and celebration of our Catholic faith.
We are committed to learning at every level to achieve our personal best.
We have personal and collective responsibility to each other and to the school’s success.
We promote excellence in all that we do.
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right!
I thought I would start this newsletter with one of my favourites quotes taken from the founder of Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford.
It’s so true, isn’t it? The only thing stopping us, most of the time, is ourselves.
Developing the self-assuredness to give things a go, having a growth mindset and leaning into failure, are arguably the most important skills a person can learn in their life. But I can’t rabbit on this week, we have so much to celebrate!
What an amazing way to start our week yesterday with our annual Guild Athletics Carnival. These events are huge team efforts and I would like to thank every teacher/staff member/parent and past student that assisted. Thank you to Ms Newton, Mrs Wise and Mrs Sims for their tireless efforts pulling all the details together. Great thanks to the Pekin Family for allowing us to utilise the UWA Athletics equipment, along with the expert use of Timing Solutions.
It was such a great display of team effort, grit and determination. I love how all our kids gave their best effort and had such huge smiles on their faces! The leadership of our Year 6 Guild Captains meant the cheering was also on point all day.
If you were there yesterday, you would have seen the Teacher/Student/Parent Race. I don’t think I have ever seen so many parents keen to put on their running shoes, what an amazing way to finish the day, and no injuries! Well done to the parent team who won, our Year 6 students ran with great determination and the teachers needed just 10 more metres!
We will be announcing all results at assembly this coming Friday. Due to Book Week and Performing Arts Commitments this will take place at the special time of 2:30pm Friday August 25th in our school Hall.
The Snyman Family have recently joined our community, immigrating from South Africa at the end of last term. Annabella is in Year 3 and Alexis in Year 1. Due to Leeanne’s upcoming work commitments and Dewald working away, they are searching for a family to look after the girls in the morning and afternoon from the 28th of August until the 6th of September. They live locally in City Beach. If you are able to assist, please contact Leanne on 0415364297.
Starting this term, our school is implementing a Relationship Program called UrStrong https://urstrong.com/. UrStrong is a whole school strategy which uses a real-life approach to create consistent kid friendly language about being good friends by building and maintaining healthy relationships. This learning also extends to parents, as such we will be organising a parent workshop in Term 4. Stay tuned for more information!
3K-PP Uniform 2024
I have spoken to many prospective and current families regarding this change, but I wanted to ensure everyone was aware.
As of 2024 students from PK-PP will be required to wear the ‘Holy Spirit School’ T-Shirt and Hat, which is available from our uniform shop. The main reason for the change is safety, as many siblings look so similar to our 3K,4K or PP students, it can be hard to distinguish between them. For more information regarding this change, please contact the school office on 9341 2551.
School Photo Day 30-31st August
More information about this will be sent out in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
The Final Countdown…
Round 24 is upon us and The Keffords are looking strong in first place. There are a few super tough games this week, good luck to all our tippers out there. A huge thanks to Anton Avila (Eamon’s (Yr4) Dad) for so expertly running our tipping comp this year! We will be able to wrap it all up in a few weeks.
Until next time, take care of yourselves,
