Message from Mr. McDermott

Hi Wildcat Families,

Exams ended today and it is evident that our Wildcats are excited for the holidays. Tomorrow, will be a normal bell schedule for make-up exams for students who need to make-up tests. The administration wants to thank you all for a great first semester. I hope all of our families take time over the break to rest, rejuvenate, and spend time with families and friends. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 4 with new school hours of 7:10 am to 1:34 pm. Parents that drop off students in the morning should plan to leave early in order to have students to school on time. Happy Holidays from the WCHS faculty and staff.

Mr. McDermott

Congratulations Mrs. Geiger!

We want to give a huge shout out to Ms. Geiger for being selected as the District Social Studies Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Geiger works tirelessly to ensure her students are engaged and successful. Mrs. Geiger is a true leader on our campus and we are thrilled that she received this honor.

GPA Explained

Each course a student takes is included in their GPA calculation. High school graduation requires a 2.0 unweighted gpa.

Grade-Quality Points

A -4

B -3

C -2

D -1

F -0

Each student takes six courses per semester. To calculate gpa, you divide quality points/6.

For college admission and scholarships, weighted gpa is sometimes used. Honors courses carry an extra .5 weighting and AP/DE courses carry an extra 1.0 weighting.

Senior Activities and Prom

This year's prom will be held Saturday, April 9th 2022 aboard the Starship Yacht. The yacht will depart from Channelside Bay Plaza, 603 Channelside Dr., Tampa, FL. Boarding will begin at 8:30PM and we will return to the dock at 11:30PM. Plan on ticket sales to begin the first week of March, more information will come in the next few issues of this newsletter.

New Bell Times for Second Semester

The District School Board approved new start times for all schools to help ensure transportation is available to get all students to school on time. Beginning 2nd semester, first period will begin at 7:10AM and school will end at 1:34PM.
