Yearbook Cover Contest

Are you looking for a fun activity for your child over winter break? We will be bringing back our Yearbook Cover Contest this year to create an opportunity to include student work in the book! This year's yearbook theme is One School, One Heart!
If your child would like to participate, the child should create a vertical (up and down) design on an 8.5"x11" piece of white printer paper.
We encourage you to have your child use lots of color to make their drawing pop! The design must include:
- The theme: One School, One Heart
- The words: Laura B. Sprague School
- The year: 2020-2021
- Student's first and last name
- Student's grade level (EC, Kindergarten, first-grade, or second-grade)
All entries are due by Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. Please scan at 300 dpi and email to spyearbook@d103.org or mail your entries in a large envelope (unfolded) to:

Acts of Kindness
Please join in as Sprague students spread kindness in their community! Each day in January, students will be invited to complete an act of kindness and build their own Daisy Chain of kind deeds! As students complete their act of kindness, they can cut, color, and attach their chains together to complete a kindness chain to hang in their homes. There are several different ways that students can show their kindness from little deeds of helping their family to bigger acts of kindness like writing letters to veterans, people in nursing homes, and more. Sprague has provided several ideas for students to complete with the help of a grown up who loves them, while also leaving some chains blank for students to think of their specific way to spread kindness.
Throughout the month of January, students will have opportunities to connect by grade level after school and share the ways they are helping others. This is not mandatory, but a good way for our students to be connected as a student community. We will also ask the grown ups at home to take pictures of the children’s chains at the end of January to share at the end of our project. Again, this is not necessary, but a great way to visualize the big ways even the youngest of our students can spread kindness in the world.
Spring Art Show
My name is Mrs. (Allison) Smith and I am the new Sprague art teacher this year. I am so excited and impressed by your talented students. They continuously surprise me with their creative art projects. I wanted to let you know that there will be a Virtual Art Show at the end of the school year. We have been hard at work with creating some beautiful masterpieces for the show. So far we have done two big art assignments that I am saving for the show.
Each week on Zoom we are creating artwork for the Virtual Art Show. If your child would like to have their work on display at the Virtual Art Show, please have them submit a good quality picture on Seesaw. It is never too late to turn in artwork on Seesaw. When you click the Activity Button (light bulb icon) in Seesaw, you will see various Units with all of the videos on how to do the art project. Once the students have watched all of the videos to create the project, all they need to do is take a picture and submit it on Seesaw. If you are unsure if your child has completed the projects, you can always reach out to me at asmith@d103.org.
Here is a list of projects we have done this year that I am saving for the Art Show:
Kindergarten
Line Leaf
Rainbow Fish
1st Grade
Line Pumpkin
Three Musicians
2nd Grade
Banyan Tree
Sugar Skull
Thank you so much for supporting the Arts!

Leave Your Legacy in D103
The D103 Learning Fund Foundation invites your family to leave a legacy at D103 with the launch of the Legacy Brick Fundraiser. With the completion of the Daniel Wright construction project, the Foundation invites families to donate $100 to inscript their name on a brick pathway outside the remodeled school.
This LFF Legacy Brick Fundraiser video, narrated by Daniel Wright Principal Michelle Blackley and featuring the new school mascot, outlines the project. This is a great opportunity to bring our community together, so please consider a donation. The Learning Fund and all of our schools appreciate your generous support.
