From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to thank everyone for their generosity towards our 2021 Walk for Technology
(Walk-o-ween). While we have not met our goal as of yet, we are close, and our last turn in day will be Thursday October 21st (TOMORROW). Any student that raises $30 or more will be out of uniform on a date to be announced later. The money that is raised at our Walk-a-thon allows the school to provide our students with the technology they need to succeed in the classroom, without asking parents to purchase a computer or pay fees towards needed licences. This great tradition also allows our students to have a fun-filled day to walk with their friends while knowing that they have helped their school through their donations. Students will be out of uniform on Friday for the Walk-a-ween, and they are encouraged to wear their best Halloween themed apparel (no costumes please). The chairs have planned a great day for our students, and I can’t wait to join in the fun on Friday.
I know we have a lot of events coming up in the next few weeks, so I wanted to put two things on your radar. First, Tony’s Fight on the Court. This is a fundraiser that was started by one of our St. John’s families 5 years ago. This fundraiser helps raise money for families that are fighting cancer. If you have a son or daughter that likes basketball, please consider signing them up to play in this wonderful event. The deadline to register is Friday October 22nd. Please see the flyer below for more details. Second, we will be changing the way we do conferences this fall. Instead of having conferences all on one day, we will hold conferences on two weeknights during the second and third week of November. Please look out for the conference form that will be sent home the first week of November.
I hope everyone has a great week.

Tony's Fight Fundraiser
Please read information below regarding a local fundraiser started by one of our St. John's families. Three of their four children have already graduated from St. John's and their youngest is in eighth grade.
"If I could ask for a couple moments of your time. My name is Beth Even and I am with the Tony’s Fight Foundation. We have hosted a youth 3v3 basketball fundraiser at LaSalle High School for the last 4 years. We are currently looking for 3rd-8th grade students from your school to play in this event on Saturday, November 20th. This tournament was started as a benefit in March 2017. In October 2016 my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3ES with Vanishing Bile Duct Syndrome, followed by a Renal Cell Carcinoma diagnosis in February 2017."
"In March 2017 our friends and family rallied around us, hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament, to show support and help with the medical expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. With Tony’s test results clear and Tony, myself and our 4 children settled into our new normal... we decided we would like to pay it forward by continuing the tournament. Together with the help from the original tournament committee, we have officially become a 501(c)3 non-profit. Tony’s Fight Foundation was started to help families from west side catholic parishes that have children in area catholic schools with a family member fighting a life threatening illness, so they are not faced with the choice of their children’s education or their health."
