ECHO
A Monthly Resource for Teaching the Faith 5.22
"What the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ." CCC #487
May is devoted to honoring our Mother, Mary, in the Catholic Church. In this edition of ECHO, we share ways in which you can incorporate catechesis about Mary into your May plans!
Understanding the "WHY" and "HOW" behind THE HAIL MARY
Praying All Ways and ALWAYS!
The Memorare
Remember O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgins of Virgins, My Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me.
AMEN.
Family Connection
You will need:
One Miraculous Medal per Child or Family
Petunias (MARY'S PRAISE)
Soil
Small Pots (one per child or family)
Hot glue gun
Sandpaper
Before your session, or during a family session, prepare the pot by very lightly sanding both the pot and the back of the medal, where you would like to affix it to the pot. Sanding the surface slightly, makes it easier for the glue to adhere. Attach a medal to each pot.
Invite participants to plant their garden choosing one petunia or two petunias, depending upon the size of your pots. Water and send participants home with their new mini-Mary garden!
Keep Learning!
