January COVID updates
1. Classes that have multiple teachers will start to move students between classes and the teachers will remain in their respective classrooms. Cleaning precautions will remain intact as this occurs.
2. We will begin to allow volunteers in our building. The volunteers will need to meet with me prior to starting and will need to understand the social distancing protocols that we have in place.
3. We will start discussing spring field trips and giving students the opportunity to see new areas and extend their classroom learning. This will be carefully considered, but we believe with proper planning that this can safely happen.
We continue to re-evaluate our protocols and this is no different. We want our kiddos to have a great learning environment and these are a few ways for us to do exactly that. Do not hesitate to call or email with questions.
Vision Screening on January 26
The Brillion Lions Club will be visiting Reedsville Elementary School on Tuesday, January 26th, to do vision screening on all of the students in grades 3k - 6th. On Wednesday January, 27th screening will be done on all 7th and 8th grade students at the Jr/Sr High building.
This screening can detect up to 6 risk factors that may lead to some impaired vision.
If there are any findings or concerns of a vision problem, a letter of referral will be sent to the child's parents.
We are pleased to have this service available to our school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school nurse.

School Updates
Late Arrivals - If students arrive late, for whatever reason, we are asking that parents just drop their students at the office. We will ensure that they get to the correct room. Please do not take students to their classrooms. We are working to minimize interruptions as best we can. Thanks!
Students may enter school at 7:40. We are asking that students not arrive prior to this time as our teachers are working to get ready for the day. Students should check in with their teacher and then proceed to the kitchen for breakfast if they are choosing to take it. We are also asking that parents refrain from entering classrooms. Thank you for your cooperation with this! In addition, we are asking parents to drop students off and leave as soon as possible. The students seem to be in a great routine. Thanks for helping keep our kiddos and staff safe!
We started a second breakfast line to help get the students to their classroom as soon as possible. The line opens at 7:45 and stays open until all students are served. Please talk to your children about proper behavior as they wait to get served. Thanks!
My theme for the staff and students is "MAXIMIZE THE MOMENT". The staff talked this week about utilizing every moment within the school day to educate each child. It fits with our current situation and we are excited to educate your children.
I promise, as the school leader, to do everything in my power to provide your child/children with a great learning experience. Feel free to contact me at any point with questions, comments, or concerns.

School Nurse Update
Thank you to everyone who has kept their kids home when they are not feeling well, following the state and county guidance for quarantines, and informing school when a student or family member has had a close contact or a positive COVID case. In order to continue to keep kids in school we are going to need everyone in our community to continue to help out in the following ways:
- Wear face coverings in all public settings, maintain social distance, and regularly wash your hands.
- Wash your child’s face covering daily.
- Stay home as much as possible and stay away from large gatherings.
- Limit your child’s interactions with other children and families.
- Continue to immediately report to the school when you believe your child has been exposed to Covid-19 or if they test positive.
- Keep your child home and follow quarantine procedures if they have been exposed to Covid-19.
- Continue to keep your child home from school if they are not feeling well.
- If you’re not sure about how to handle a situation, keep your child home and call the school for recommendations.
Contact Tracing/Quarantine Procedures
With the cold and flu season right around the corner and allergies heavily upon us, it can sometimes be tricky to know what is causing some of these symptoms. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is best to be cautious and extremely important for parents to be evaluating their child daily prior to sending to school.
Daily COVID Screening
Your student should stay home if they are symptomatic or have been tested for COVID-19 (while waiting for the results). Your student is considered symptomatic if they have one of symptoms marked with a (*) or two of the other symptoms above baseline for them.
Cough * - Fever or chills - Fatigue
Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing * - Nausea or vomiting
New loss of taste or smell - Diarrhea - Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose - Headache - Muscle aches or soreness
Each day before students get on the bus or are dropped off at school - please answer the following questions:
Has your student been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
Has your student been experiencing a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, or a sore throat?
Has your student had a fever of 100.4℉ in the last 24 hours?
Has your student had any new onsets (ex: Loss of taste or smell?)
Has your student had unexplained muscle pains or chills?
Has your student experienced nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea in the past 24 hours?
If the answer is YES to any of these, please do not send your child to school. Contact your physician to see if they would like you to come in for COVID-19 testing.
**Per current Manitowoc County guidelines, when a student presents with or exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 while at school, the following steps will take place:
Student will be placed in a health isolation room. Parent/guardian will be notified and should arrive to pick up student as soon as possible.
Student will need to stay home until:
A: If cleared by an MD and provide documentation
B: Negative COVID test
C: After 10 days of symptom onset AND fever free for 24 hrs AND improvement of symptoms (if not tested)

Cleaning Procedures and Safety Protocols
1. Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the hallways.

5. Students will be cohorted as often as possible throughout the school day.
6. We will emphasize our hand-washing/sanitizing procedures.

This is not an exclusive list. There are other procedures that will make our school as safe as possible. If you have questions about specifics, feel free to give me a call.
Ways to Help the School...
These items help to offset costs on playground equipment, field trips, and other activities throughout the year. It is easy to collect them. You can drop these items off either in the office or with classroom teachers. Remember that every little bit helps!
