City of Murphy - Boil Water Notice
Dear Murphy Area Families and Staff,
Plano ISD has been monitoring the water situation in the City of Murphy over the weekend. The administration received an update from the City of Murphy this afternoon that the boil water notice will continue at least through tomorrow afternoon, Monday, September 12. Affected campuses and facilities include Boggess and Hunt Elementary Schools; Murphy Middle School; McMillen High School; Murphy Distribution Center; and Kimbrough Stadium.
Campuses and the district are planning accordingly, which includes:
Temporarily preventing access to water fountains and bottle refill stations.
Providing bottled water to all affected campuses and facilities.
Altering meal preparation in order to safely serve breakfast and lunch. Breakfast will consist of pre-packaged items and the lunch menu will exclude any products that are water-prepared. Any water used by the Food and Nutritional Services Department, including for washing dishes, will be heated to the appropriate temperatures.
Students and staff will still be able to wash their hands safely using soap and tap water and the toilets in the buildings still flush.
Although bottled water is being provided by the district, we encourage students and staff to bring additional bottled water in order to stay properly hydrated throughout the day.
The City of Murphy will provide another update at around 1:00 p.m. on Monday to let the community know if the boil water notice will continue beyond tomorrow. If the boil water notice persists, Plano ISD will continue to follow these safety measures and provide families with updates.
Sincerely,
Dr. Theresa Williams
Plano ISD Superintendent
