St. Paul's Trumpet
February 9, 2022
“Generations of disciples, reflecting God’s love, to our community and the world.”
Pastor's Note
Last week I had COVID! So many of you have been through that, I know you understand exactly how *fun* it is to spend 5 days in quarantine at home. I am feeling much better (thank you, Paxlovid!) and am glad to be back in the office this week. I was very sad to miss being in worship on Sunday, especially as you got the news that Rev Chad Anglemyer has been appointed as St Paul's next senior pastor. Since I was at home, I didn't get the chance to tell you that I am very glad for this appointment and believe it will be a great next season for St Paul's under Chad's leadership.
Chad has served in various ways in Omaha since 1994 and for the last six years has been the District Superintendent of the Omaha area. That means he is well acquainted with St Paul's and understands full well what a tremendous church you are. He is actually ending his time as DS early in order to come be your senior pastor.
I have known Chad for almost a decade now and have always appreciated his ministry. He is thoughtful, engaging, funny, calm, and encouraging. He loves God and has tremendous integrity. He cares for people well and wants people to use their gifts and skills.
Chad is going to have a lot of fun being your senior pastor! I believe he has a sense of this, but he will soon discover just how deep is the well of faith and talent that this church possesses. Together you all will continue forming generations of disciples, and reflecting God's love to the community and world. I am glad to know you will be in good hands with Chad's leadership. I know you will welcome him warmly and embrace his pastoral gifts.
Sunday we continue on with our series, Uncommon Saints--this time considering the life and legacy of Howard Thurman (I promised that last week, but this week it will happen!) I so look forward to seeing you in worship.
Amy

Mission of the Week
Please support our local food pantries by bringing an item each week & putting it in the grocery cart outside the sanctuary!
This week: Cereal or Oatmeal
Undie Sundays in February
Throughout the month of February the Mission team will be collecting new underwear/socks and new or gently used clothing for elementary school closets. They are in need of sizes for students in preschool through 6th grade.
These items are given to students who come to school dressed inappropriately or need to change their clothes during the school day.
Why do schools keep a closet? Here are just a few examples: A student comes to school without socks on a cold day because they gave theirs to their sibling. A student may only have a pair or two of socks and needs a clean pair. A teacher notices a student's clothes don't fit and they don't have another option at home. A younger student may have an accident during the day and need a change of clothes. Your donations can make a big difference in the lives of a child.
55+ Event - It’s another “History Mystery!"
We also will enjoy pita sandwiches from the Pita Pit. Please include your name on the sign-up sheet if you are able to attend. Cost will be $10.
Toastmaster's is here at St. Paul's and we're holding an Open House
