Krabbes disease is a disorder that destroys the the coating of nerve cells in the brain and throughout the nervous system.

Kind of disorder it is.

Autosomal recessive because both copies of the gene in each cell have a mutation

Symptoms

Young and Older


  • Fever
  • Loss of vision
  • muscle spasms difficulty walking
  • frequent vomiting
  • muscle weakening
  • seizures
  • fixed posture
  • loss of hearing

What age is the onset

6 months

Common in males or females

Not gender specific

What is the treatment?

There is no treatment

You can give them medications to ease muscle spasms and seizures.

How does it affect ones life?

The person can't live a normal life.
