Burlingame Intermediate School

Friday, September 9, 2022

Dear BIS Family and Friends,

Thank you for coming to our Back to School Night! It was so nice to have you all at school. I hope you feel like you got a taste of what your student experiences while they are at school. I want to encourage you all to join our wonderful PTA. Each membership goes beyond our school, with advocacy and training to support our children at the state level and beyond. I also want to encourage all families to give what they can to both PTA and BCE to support our school instructional programs, teacher professional development, student and parent socials, and so much more.

Student Computer Use Agreement:

We are checking out Chromebooks. Please have your student let their Humanities teachers know that they need a Chromebook for the school year. When your child comes home with the Chromebook, they will have a Computer Use Agreement. Please go over this form with your child. Both of you should initial the form and sign. Please return to the office or Advisory teacher. All students that use a computer at school are expected to use their devices with good intentions and Thank you.

Identifications Cards (IDs)

We will be taking lunch counts in Advisory classes each morning. Please talk to your child so they know if they will be grabbing a school lunch. The lunches are free to all students. Once students get their ID cards they will be scanning them so we can keep a more accurate accounting for our state reporting. Please share with your student(s) that they will need their ID card daily at school for lunch and to check out library books.

Lunch Applications are available for the 2022-2023 school year. Please see below for more information. Families that qualify are eligible for many other community services.

Lunchtime in the Library

This week we have had many students in the library at Brunch and Lunch due to the high temperatures. I wanted to thank Ms. Chang, our librarian and the library volunteers for keeping it a safe place to be. I also want to share that students can NOT be playing games on their computers during school hours. This includes during lunch. Students can play board games, cards, read, or work on school work. Thank you for your help.

DO YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER AT BIS?

To become a volunteer in the Burlingame School District, you need to complete the following steps:

  • Fingerprints are good for your entire time with a school district so if you have had them from your child's elementary school, you're all set!

  • TB tests need to be administered within 60 days of submitting your volunteer requirements; or
  • Risk assessment *must* be administered and signed by your health care provider and may *not* be self-administered

3. Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination

Please email all documents to abell@burlingameschools.org. Once you are cleared as a volunteer, Alison will contact the site principal.
