MLK Humanitarian Awards Assembly
The CMS Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award will once again be presented to a student, staff member, and a community member. This award will be given out on February 26 in celebration of Black History Month. The purpose of this program is to commemorate Dr. King's legacy of service, justice, and equality, and to recognize individuals in our community that have made outstanding humanitarian contributions. Former CMS assistant principal, Dr. George Weathers will be our keynote speaker. Our 7th grade students will attend the assembly while 6th & 8th grade students will view via Safari Montage.
CMS SGC elections
Crabapple Middle School will be electing representatives to serve on the School Governance Council. We will be electing parent/guardian positions and teacher positions for our spring election. Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of the school. The Council works with the principal in setting the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school's strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as designing innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community.
Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher positions on the School Governance Council will be held March 11th – March 18th. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit by February 20th.
Candidate forms may be submitted electronically or by mail (get a copy of the form from the school's front office and follow mailing instructions on the back of the form).
Visit the CMS website for the links to the declaration forms.

Applying to Private School?
Each year, we have several families apply to area private schools. Please abide by the following guidelines for transcript and recommendation requests:
- Requests should be made at least 10 business days in advance of the due date. We cannot guarantee on-time arrival of documents unless this amount of time is given.
- Please provide documents pre-filled with student/parent information and signatures according to application directions. We cannot complete documentation unless all required information by the applicant is filled out.
- Please provide the appropriate number of addressed and stamped envelopes. Transcripts require a 9 x 12 envelope with approximately $2.00 in postage.
- All recommendations by school staff are confidential. We will not return copies of these documents to the student or parent. All confidential documentation will be sent to the school according to application directions. If the school requires an online application, CMS has no way of monitoring the completion or timely arrival of the application.
- Please sign the attached RELEASE of INFORMATION form allowing CMS staff to share information with the private school.
We appreciate your understanding of the above guidelines. We process several applications each year which requires that we have a process in place to honor requests in a timely manner.
If you have questions about student records, please contact the counseling office at 470-254-8332.
