Principal's Corner #2

July 31, 2020

Big picture
I couldn't help but refer back to my own Emergenetics Profile report which says "Because your level of Flexibility is in the first third, you probably are focused, firm, and absolute. It’s likely you have strong opinions and a defined agenda. You generally are convinced that your solution is best, and you may prefer to be in control. You probably enjoy clear-cut situations, and you may dislike change. You most likely need time to assess new procedures and ideas. Because you are known for being focused on the direction you deem most appropriate, you may be perceived as stubborn."

I envision some of you laughing right now as you picture me navigating a time that require us all to be flexible, a time where so much is out of our control, a time that is constantly changing, and a time where time to assess new procedures and ideas is narrowing. So... my "battery" is working overtime! However, knowing I am in this with such an amazing group of people, educators, and problem solvers helps that battery keep running! We've got this team!

As we wait to learn how we will begin the 2020-21 school year, I encourage you to think about how you are going to find the balance during these times. What structures (I know we have a lot of green out there) do you need to have in place when you return to work? Where will you need to be flexible? We will all have to flex our thinking and our behaviors throughout the upcoming year...but again, we got this!

Staff Changes

Parents have until 4:00pm today to make adjustments/changes to their child's enrollment. I will have access to those numbers Tuesday morning and at that time will be able to finalize our staffing for the 2020-21 school year. There will be changes. As some of you know, Amy, Darren D. and Lois will be going to the online platform for the 2020-21 school year. I know they will do amazing things, but remember once a Cougar, always a Cougar - we will stay in touch throughout this crazy year!

2020-21 Class Lists

2019-20 Kindergarten-4th Grade Teachers: You should have received an invite to review class lists for the 2020-21 School Year. We will be looking at the current lists and making adjustments with feedback from the previous years teachers. I hope to have your class lists available in Class Composure by 4:00pm on Friday, August 7th.
