The Clayville Chronicle
Summer Update: August 10, 2020
From the Desk of Mrs. Francis
I hope you are having an enjoyable summer and finding fun ways to beat the heat! I appreciate all of your support and patience as we navigate the details of this upcoming school year.
To date, we've had a few staff changes. Mrs. Hankinson, one of our paraprofessionals, retired at the end of last school year. We wish her all the best in this next chapter of her life! Our School Nurse Teacher, Mrs. Gosselin, resigned to work full time at a hospital. Many of you remember our previous School Nurse Teacher Mrs. Theroux, who I am happy to announce is back at Clayville School! In addition, Ms. Tourgee, our art teacher, completed her one year position at Clayville School. We will certainly miss her creativity next school year! Ms. Davis, from Scituate Middle School, moved into our art teacher position. Welcome Ms. Davis!
Please continue reading for the most up to date announcements and information about school reopening. As always, please reach out with any questions, suggestions, or concerns. I look forward to a new and exciting school year!
Welcome Superintendent Andries
Superintendent Andries sends out weekly updates to families (below). Please use these as your primary source of information for back to school plans. Visit the Scituate School Department website for more information.
Scituate School Department's Reopening Plans
Scituate’s Reopening Task Force consisted of a team of educators, school nurses, principals, administrators, parents, and students. They worked to review the RI Department of Education’s (RIDE) reopening guidelines. This team met frequently to construct a plan which was submitted to RIDE. We are proud to announce that Scituate’s plan was commended for its focus on student and staff safety. The plan includes four possible scenarios including in person, 50% in person, 25% in person, and full distance learning. The Governor will make an announcement on August 17th letting us know which plan we will reopen to.
Scituate School Department's Town Hall Meeting: July 30, 2020
Distance Learning Option
As discussed during our Town Hall meeting last Thursday, Distance Learning is an option for all Scituate students. Parents/guardians who wish to opt their child into Distance Learning for the upcoming school year are asked to email Superintendent Andries (Laurie.Andries@ScituateSchoolsRI.net) and her administrative assistant (Jennifer.Carnevale@ScituateSchoolsri.net). As of right now, there is no minimum time commitment for the Distance Learning option. More information about Distance Learning will be communicated to all families over the next few weeks.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
